Swindon Town climbed second in League Two with a 3-1 victory at Barrow, but striker Paul Glatzel insists the focus is on sustaining momentum across the season.
The forward struck his second goal in as many games to help secure a fourth successive win for Ian Holloway’s side.
Clinical first half sets the tone
The visitors made the perfect start when Aaron Drinan opened the scoring early on. Glatzel then doubled the advantage before half-time, finishing confidently to reward Swindon’s positive approach. Princewill Ehibhatiomhan added a third soon after the interval, effectively putting the contest beyond reach despite Lewis Shipley’s consolation goal for Barrow.
Speaking after the game, Glatzel underlined the need for perspective despite the team’s surge to the summit. He said the squad must remain consistent, focusing only on the next challenge rather than getting carried away with their position in September.
“We came with a plan, and we executed it well,” Glatzel said. “It’s only the start and we need to take every game as it is and hopefully get as many three points as we can, and then see where that takes us.”
The former Liverpool striker, who joined Swindon permanently this summer, also praised the intensity of the side’s pressing and the attacking football on display.
“We want to be a front-foot, attacking team that is pressing high and being aggressive,” he added. “I felt like we played good football when we got the ball down. It is enjoyable to be part of at the moment.”

From struggles to strong starts
Less than a year ago, Swindon were rooted to the bottom of League Two, but their rapid transformation has supporters daring to dream of a promotion push. For Glatzel, the team’s early rise is about rewarding long-suffering fans while keeping sights firmly set on the long term.
Holloway’s side have now taken maximum points from their last four outings, a run that has seen goals shared across the frontline and defensive resilience complement their attacking flair. With summer signings bedding in quickly, the sense around the County Ground is one of optimism balanced by caution.
Writer’s View
This victory is more than just another three points for Swindon, it symbolises how far they have come since last season’s struggles. The attacking trio of Drinan, Glatzel and Ehibhatiomhan gives them variety and potency, while Holloway’s coaching has instilled a clear identity.
The challenge now will be to maintain consistency across the winter months, when promotion races are often shaped. For now, Swindon look every inch contenders and, crucially, they have players who believe their best is yet to come.
