Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Notts County have made a solid if unspectacular start to the League Two season, winning two, drawing two and losing two of their opening six matches. Martin Paterson’s side opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw away at Newport County with a Jodi Jones penalty cancelling out Newport’s opener.

That draw was followed up by a defeat at home to Salford City, with Jayden Luker getting the consolation in a 2-1 loss. The Magpies then had their Carabao Cup journey ended at the first hurdle thanks to a Paul Mullin penalty for Wigan Athletic. A long trip to Barrow was next up for Paterson’s side in what turned out to be a dramatic loss at the SO Legal Stadium. County looked to have rescued a point with an 89th minute equaliser only for Lewis Shipley to grab all three points for the hosts in the seventh minute of injury time.

It wasn’t until the fourth league game of the campaign that County registered their first three points in a 4-1 home win against Shrewsbury Town thanks to goals from Matthew Dennis, Sonny Aljofree, Nicholas Tsaroulla and Conor Grant. Dennis was again on the scoresheet days later, scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw with Bromley at Meadow Lane and the in form striker followed that up with the equaliser at Tranmere Rovers before Kellan Gordon snatched a winner to send his side to a second win in three matches.

Notts County have scored 11 league goals in their opening six games with Matthew Dennis helping himself to five of those in a fantastic start to his season. At the other end, County have conceded nine goals at an average of 1.5 per game and have yet to keep a clean sheet.

Fleetwood got off to a better start to their season with wins away at Barnet and at home to Bristol Rovers. Will Davies and Elliot Bonds got the goals to claim three points at The Hive before Davies added two more to his tally to seal three more points at home to Bristol Rovers.

A penalty defeat against Barnsley sent Fleetwood out of the Carabao Cup after a 2-2 draw, and they produced the same scoreline three days later away at Bromley in a game where Fleetwood took the lead early but had to rely on a 93rd minute equaliser James Norwood to take a point home.

Defeat at Crewe Alexandra was followed up by a draw at home to Oldham Athletic with the veteran Ched Evans getting on the scoresheet. Barrow were next up and it was Ryan Graydon who secured all three points.

Fleetwood have scored nine goals with Will Davies getting three and the impressive Elliot Bonds chipping in with two assists. The Cod Army have conceded eight times and have kept two clean sheets.

Since 2013, these two sides have only met on five occasions with two Fleetwood victories and two draws. Last season, the spoils were shared across two entertaining matches that both produced late drama. At Meadow Lane, Notts County found themselves 2-0 down just after half time after goals from Ryan Graydon and Brendan Wiredu. Alassana Jatta pulled one back before a Jodi Jones penalty in the 95th minute secured a point.

In the return fixture at Highbury Stadium, George Abbott gave Notts County the lead before two quick Ryan Graydon goals put Fleetwood ahead before another late goal, this time from Alassana Jatta, rescued a point for County.

Prior to last season, the last time these sides met was back in 2015 when Fleetwood beat Notts County at Highbury thanks to goals from Liam McAlinden and David Ball. Notts County’s solitary win came in a 2013 League Cup clash when goals from Enoch Showunmi, Daniel Haynes and Callum McGregor were enough to edge a five goal thrillw at Meadow Lane.
