Our Three Predictions For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town:

  • First Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Match Result – Harrogate Town – 8/5
  • Second Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Under 3.5 Goals – 7/25
  • Third Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 13/20

First Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Match Result – Harrogate Town – 8/5

Two of the well-known smaller outfits in the fourth tier have endured constraining beginnings to their campaign. While Harrogate have hit a bump in the road following a four-game unbeaten streak, Crawley could only dream of putting together such a sequence, having lost four of their opening six. But the Red Devils can take encouragement from their last showing at Chesterfield, despite letting a two-goal lead slip, as they put the Spireites to the sword in the opening period. However, Harrogate have performed better on home turf, although not necessarily reflected in the results, having lost against Paul Cook’s outfit in their last such game. Expect a home win tomorrow afternoon.

Second Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Under 3.5 Goals – 7/25

Unsurprisingly, given their start to the season, Crawley are among the lowest scorers with three goals this term, while shipping plenty at the other end. Only the two sides below the Red Devils have conceded more than their eleven thus far, with a tightened rearguard needed if they are to start climbing the division. Harrogate have a modest tally infront of goal, scoring in six of their seven games across all competitions, though the only game they didn’t find the net was their most recent outing. Goals should be anticipated in this fixture, but not in huge supply, if the early-season stats are anything to go by.

Third Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Crawley Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 13/20

In signing Scott Malone, Crawley will be hoping he can tighten up a defence that has been leaking goals in the early part of the season. They will be hoping to continue their unbeaten record in the EFL in North Yorkshire, winning the last three encounters across all venues in succession. Both teams have got on the scoresheet in those games, and though Harrogate have won only once in this fixture before, expect them to come out on top with goals at either end.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

After four unbeaten games to start the campaign, Harrogate have lost two on the bounce to check their early-season progress. While the North Yorkshire side had a brief flirt with the Play-Offs two years ago, they returned to being a bottom-six side last term, and much of the same was expected this term too. But against relegated Bristol Rovers on the opening day, Stephen Duke-McKenna grabbed the only goal at the Memorial Stadium in a clinical away performance. The Sulphurites were similarly good infront of goal against Grimsby Town, but let in as many at the other end, and were forced to settle for a high-scoring draw, despite leading three-one with seven minutes remaining. In the Carabao Cup, Harrogate crashed out against higher-division Lincoln City, but continued their bright start in the fourth tier by taking a point at Cambridge United, thanks to Duke-McKenna once again. He turned provider the following Tuesday, but the goal came from an unlikely source. Shawn McCoulsky netted for the first time in the EFL in over seven years, ending his 53-game wait without a goal in the competition to edge a tight encounter against Barrow.

But that is where the good start ended. A tough home assignment against Chesterfield proved to be just that, despite the Duke-McKenna McCoulsky combination providing another goal to put the home side on level terms. A late winner from Chey Dunkley ended their barren run against the Sulphurites, also bringing to a close Harrogate’s unbeaten start to the campaign. Meanwhile, last weekend, Harrogate were once again spirited away from home, but Bromley netted twice in the final quarter of an hour to eventually break their resolve. McCoulsky was a summer signing from Maidenhead United, joining Mason Bennett (Burton Albion) and Conor McAleny (Salford City) in strengthening their attacking options. Lewis Cass and Tom Bradbury were signed from League Two rivals Grimsby Town and Cheltenham Town, respectively, while Bobby Faulkner joins on loan for the campaign from Doncaster Rovers. Some household names have left North Yorkshire this summer, including Dean Cornelius (Ross County), Matty Daly (Hartlepool United), Josh March (Crewe Alexandra) and Matty Foulds (St. Johnstone), while Josh Falkingham has retired.

Pre-season expectations with Crawley Town were very difficult to judge. Scott Lindsey returned to the club in March, a mere seven months after departing for Milton Keynes Dons. Expected to challenge for promotion with MK, he left the club towards the wrong end of the table before re-joining his former side. The Red Devils were also struggling towards the bottom of the division, albeit a league higher, but Lindsey did everything in his power to help try and avoid the drop after winning promotion via the Play-Offs the previous year. Winning five of his nine matches in charge, relegation came in the final midweek of the season, though they finished only a point adrift of safety. Back in the fourth tier with their successful manager back in the hot seat, hopes of a promotion charge have been extinguished in the first month of the campaign. Grimsby Town put three past the West Sussex side on the opening day, before Newport County edged past them at the Broadfield Stadium the following weekend, despite Max Anderson’s late finish.

Exiting the Carabao Cup at the hands of Swansea City was hardly a huge surprise given the two division gap between the clubs. Kabongo Tshimanga gave them hope with fifteen to play, but substitute Gavan Holahan was dismissed eight minutes later to effectively end all hopes of a comeback. A narrow loss against Crewe Alexandra was followed by a decent point against MK Dons, with Ade Adeyemo giving the hosts the lead in the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time. Despite an impressive first period against Tranmere Rovers, the Red Devils were left to reflect on another disappointing result, marking their worst start to a campaign as an EFL outfit. Improvements began to show last Saturday against fast-starters Chesterfield, leading the Spireites by two at the break thanks to a Harry McKirdy double. But two goals in the opening fifteen minutes of the second half earned the hosts a point. McKirdy was a summer signing from Bromley, while Tshimanga also strengthens the forward line from Peterborough United. Scott Malone & Ryan Loft join the Posh striker in leaving Cambridgeshire, albeit on the Amber side of the divide. Jay Williams comes from MK Dons, while Dion Pereira arrives from Luton Town. Outgoings were plentiful, with Liam Fraser (Reading), Panutche Camara (Dundee United), Toby Mullarkey (Fleetwood Town), Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (MK Dons), Armando Quitirna (Wycombe Wanderers) and Will Swan (Bradford City) the big performers leaving West Sussex.
