Luton Town Agree Loan-To-Buy Coup For Ipswich Town Striker

Luton Town have reportedly landed an agreement with Ipswich Town for striker, Ali Al-Hamadi. The 23-year-old will reportedly join the Hatters on loan, with a view to buy if successful.

Al Hamadi has been lauded as Luton’s latest incoming by Dharmesh Sheth. The striker is believed to be the subject of a move worth £3 million in total. As an Iraq international, the 23-year-old has featured 12 times for his country, scoring twice. As a Swansea City academy player, Al Hamadi featured 30 times in the Swans’ developmental teams.

Needing to Get Back on Track

The striker has featured in stints at Wycombe Wanderers – as his first parent club after Swansea – Bromley, AFC Wimbledon and Stoke City. Ipswich purchased Al Hamadi in January 2024, with the forward appearing 29 times either side of a loan spell with the Potters. Luton could offer Al Hamadi a fresh opportunity, with his only games this season coming in the EFL Cup and a brief stint against Birmingham City in the league.

Matt Bloomfield’s side are stacked in attacking numbers, but Al Hamadi would be a large improvement to their promotion likelihood. Injured until mid-September, the striker would be an asset to join ahead of a gruelling winter campaign.

Luton Add More Assets

This would be Luton’s tenth signing of the window, with Shayden Morris joining on Deadline Day from Aberdeen. Luton have brought in Jerry Yates as well as Nahki Wells this summer, with both looking to add firepower to a promotion-pushing side.

Writer’s View

Al Hamadi is a very talented forward, who was linked with half of the Championship prior to a Stoke loan. The Luton-linked man would easily be one of the best players in League One and could replicate his Wimbledon form at a team vying for promotion.

Squad depth issues isn’t an issue for Luton, so they are looking to bolster their attacking ranks rather than recover lost areas. Carlton Morris leaving was a huge blow to the Hatters, but Al Hamadi may offer a different profile to suit Luton far more in League One.
