Blackpool could make a move for Liverpool’s Kaide Gordon, according to a report in The Athletic.
The Seasiders have been in the middle of an injury crisis up front earlier this season, with midfielder George Honeyman forced to partner Dale Taylor up front. Whilst those injuries have been relieved with Ashley Fletcher returning from a knock, it seems that Steve Bruce is still in search of new options out wide.
Gordon Loan Move Possible
According to The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce, Kaide Gordon could join the League One side on a loan deal, but do face competition for the winger. The 20-year-old looks to have no chance of future football at Anfield this season, with the signings of Hugo Ekitike and the expected transfer of Alexander Isak to Merseyside likely limiting chances in the Reds’ front three across the campaign.
Gordon spent last season on two loans in the Championship to both Norwich City and Portsmouth, but failed to impress in either and was quickly dropped by both Johannes Hoff Thorup and John Mousinho in their Championship fixtures, with the latter opting to pick former Liverpool youngster Harvey Blair in many matches.
He was previously linked with moves back to the Championship earlier in the window, with former club Derby County and Swansea City tipped for a loan move by Pearce.

Writers’ View
It has largely been a 12 months to forget for Kaide Gordon. He had previously been tipped as a star for the future once he fully emerged from the Liverpool academy, with strong performances in pre-season action and in limited cup appearances. However, injuries have worn him down and two failed loan moves to Portsmouth and Norwich City will surely have knocked his confidence. Whilst on paper a step down to League One is a sign of his inability to perform in the second tier, it could be a shrewd move to regain his confidence and finally give him regular first-team action.
Blackpool could be the place for him to do that and also allow George Honeyman to move back into his more native central position following makeshift appearances out wide and up front. Danny Imray’s arrival does mean competition for Gordon to play in a more advanced role, but if he can get back to that early promise, then the 20-year-old could finally show his ability under an experienced boss like Steve Bruce.
