- 3rd prediction: Both teams to score
1st prediction for Leicester City: Leicester City to win or draw- 9/25
This is a really exciting match up of two teams with pretty similar ambitions but different backgrounds. Leicester City are back in the Championship following a poor 2024-25 in the Premier League where they looked destined for the drop from very early on. They’ve become somewhat of a yo-yo club between the top two tiers with financial issues inhibiting them hugely and limiting what they could do this summer. They had a tumultuous summer with a potential points deduction hanging over them and managerial uncertainty but they’ve come through the other side and started well. They’ve not had a blistering first few games, but the signs are encouraging especially with youth being blooded. Birmingham come into the season with similar ambitions but different context. They’ve spent big over the last couple of years and have a squad which looks like it could achieve a successive successive promotion having won League One at a canter last season. They’ve also started the season but there have been bumps in the road including an early Carabao Cup exit. They look like a good outfit and will certainly challenge the top end of the table, but they are still adjusting back to the division and may struggle away at a recent Premier League side. This one looks like it will go in favour of the home side.
2nd prediction for Leicester City vs Birmingham City: Over 2.5 goals in the game – 1/1
This is likely to be an entertaining game in front of goal. Both sides have an abundance of attacking talent and play good football creating plenty of chances. It’s just a case of taking those chances. While they are also pretty solid, both teams have shown they can make the odd error and concede with much of the emphasis on going forward which leaves gaps at the back. This will likely be the case in this game. Both sides have plenty to play for at this early stage and will want to take the initiative which will undoubtedly lead to goals. Then there’s the players who will be on show. Leicester have Abdul Fatawu and sixteen year-old Jeremy Monga as options likely from the start as well as plenty of midfield talent and depth so they will certainly threaten. Birmingham have the likes of Jay Stansfield and Kyogo Furuhashi as well as proven Championship experience in Lyndon Dykes.
3rd prediction for Leicester City vs Birmingham City: Both teams to score – 4/5
This is a prediction which leads on from the previous one. All the signs are leading to an open game, with both sides looking good going forward this season and with areas to exploit. Add into that the fact that these teams will likely be up the higher end of the table at the end of the season, and you’ve got a potential classic on your hands.. Both sides will go all out for this game for both bragging rights, so we may see and end-to-end tie where both sides attack and look purely to outscore each other. Leicester are probably just about favourites in terms of amount of goals purely due to their talent and home advantage, but anything can happen in games like these. As discussed previously, Birmingham do have a chance and will do everything they can in front of goal, so don’t count them out.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head
This is a massive game at this stage of the season, with two big sides going head-to-head in a season where both are expected to be fighting at the very top. The two teams have started the season well but not spectacularly, and will see this as a game to get one over a direct rival and really show their credentials when it comes to fighting for promotion. Leicester have the expectation of going straight back up after a disappointing relegation but it won’t be that simple; they have struggled off the field and the Championship is notoriously hard to get out of. Birmingham have spent huge amounts and are chasing a double promotion and a win here would really be a statement of intent. Whatever happens, we have a cracker on our hands.
