Our Three Predictions For Peterborough United vs Bradford City

  • First Prediction: Peterborough United – Draw No Bet – 7/5
  • Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 31/50
  • Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 3/4

First Prediction For Peterborough United vs Bradford City – Peterborough United – Draw No Bet

On the face of it, backing Peterborough to win here seems a little naive. They are currently bottom of League One having lost all four of their opening games, scoring one goal in the process. Meanwhile, Bradford are flying, having enjoyed their first few weeks in the division having earned promotion from League Two. The Bantams are unbeaten and sit fourth in the table. However, a home win for a seasoned League One team at long odds such as these are impossible to ignore.

There’s no getting away from the fact that Peterborough endured a difficult campaign last time out, whilst the early signs this time around are equally concerning. Still, their performances in the last two games haven’t generated the results they necessarily deserved and there is a feeling at the Weston Homes Stadium that their luck is about to change. Darren Ferguson is still implementing his new signings and dealing with the loss of big names over the summer but he will take heart from their most recent outings. The perfect time to kick start their season is here, in front of their own supporters who are desperate to put some points on the board.

Bradford have indeed been excellent over the opening few weeks and look as if they can have a real go at securing at least a top half finish this season. Still, they have shown vulnerabilities at the back and that could be exploited. 9/4 is a huge price for a home win against a team that were playing in the division below just three months ago. However, you can protect your stake by opting for the draw no bet option at 7/5.

Second Prediction For Peterborough United vs Bradford City – Both Teams To Score – 31/50

Peterborough have been somewhat goal shy during these opening fixtures and only have their penalty strike against Cardiff City on the opening day to show for their efforts. However, the fixture list has been somewhat unkind, having faced two sides that have recently been relegated from the Championship. Darren Ferguson will feel that they did enough to get something out of the game against Wigan Athletic and Barnsley, but they must start putting away their chances. They now face a team which are flying but have conceded in four of their five games in all competitions thus far. This seems like the perfect opportunity to break their open play duck.

Bradford are riding a crest at the moment and have picked up brilliant wins over the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town and Stockport County, as well as against Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup. However, they have conceded in all four of their victories so far, with only Northampton Town stopping them finding the net. This is likely to be an open game.

Third Prediction For Peterborough United vs Bradford City – Over 2.5 Goals – 3/4

Peterborough have been involved in just one fixture that has featured three or more goals in League One this season. That came on the opening day when they were defeated 2-1 by Cardiff City, but this game has a different feel about it. Posh are determined to get their campaign up and running and have shown promise over the past seven days. They were also the top scorers in the bottom half of the table last season.

Bradford’s five games in all competitions have broken this market on four occasions, having secured 2-1 wins over Wycombe, Luton, Stockport and Blackburn. They have certainly proven they know where the net is but are liable at the back to concede a goal or two. Despite the season being in its infancy, Peterborough will feel there is a lot riding on this game for them and a goal fest could ensue as a result. This is also a fixture which traditionally generates plenty of action, with 22 goals scored between them in their previous five meetings.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

Peterborough have lost all four of their opening League One fixtures whilst also crashing out of the Carabao Cup against League Two opposition in Accrington Stanley. However, their poor form dates back to last season and they haven’t won a league fixture since beating Crawley Town 4-3 on April 1st. This means they head into this fixture on a run of 11 league games without a win. This season has seen them score just once, with that goal coming from the penalty spot in the opening day defeat against Cardiff City. Since then, they have come away with zero points from their clashes with Luton Town (2-0), Wigan Athletic (2-0) and Barnsley (1-0).

Meanwhile, Bradford are enjoying life back in the third tier and will enter the field at the Weston Homes Stadium in fourth position. They started the season with an impressive 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers before drawing 0-0 with Northampton Town. Their last two outings have been impressive though, picking up a pair of 2-1 victories over two promotion favourites in Luton and Stockport County. Eager to prove this isn’t a flash in the pan, they also dispatched Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup, setting up a clash with Stoke City in the second round.

This is the first meeting between the pair since 2019, when Bradford were last in League One. The Bantams won 3-1 that day, which was the fourth time they met during the 2018/19 season. They played out a 1-1 draw in the corresponding league fixture at London Road before a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup second round. The replay was a staggering affair, ending 4-4 before Bradford progressed on penalties. Overall, there have been 40 clashes between the two, with Posh winning 15, Bradford 13 (including their aforementioned FA Cup penalty shootout victory), whilst there have been 12 draws.
