  • 2nd prediction: Under 2.5 goals in the game
  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score – No

1st prediction for Swansea City vs Watford: Swansea City to win or draw – 11/50

This is a tough game to predict. Both sides have won the exact same record of a win and a loss thus far this season, with Watford ahead by a place purely by scoring one more goal. The two sides are probably predicted to have similar seasons, and will be looking to challenge the top half. Swansea ended last campaign better than Watford though, with the Swans ending well under Alan Sheehan, who enters his first full season as boss having replaced Luke Williams last term. Watford started promisingly last year despite low expectations, but petered off in a second half of the campaign which saw them fall away from the play-offs and harshly sack Tom Cleverley. Turning to this game, the home side are likely the favourites due to that home advantage and their transfer activity which looks set to boost their ranks ahead of this one, with Marko Stamenic likely to sign. Watford have the away factor working against them as well as being a new team looking to get under new manager Paolo Pezzolano, who remains an unknown quantity in the EFL. It will be a tight one, but the Swans are likely the favourites.

2nd prediction for Swansea City vs Watford: Under 2.5 goals in the game – 13/20

This likely won’t be a high scoring game. Swansea struggled for goals last season, and those woes seem to have extended into this campaign. They have only scored once in this campaign, with fans and manager Alan Sheehan bemoaning a lack of attacking output. While reinforcements look likely in this area, they likely won’t happen quick enough for an impact here. The Swans saving grace, however, and the basis for their prediction, is that their defence is strong so they will likely restrict the Hornets. The away side haven’t struggled quite so much on the goal front, with two scored and two conceded, but they will be on the back foot for most of this game as the home team look to exert pressure. Couple their record with their short-lived nature as a squad under their new boss, and a high-scoring classic is unlikely.

3rd prediction for Swansea City vs Watford: Both teams to score – No – 4/5

This is a game where there likely won’t be many goals, but whenever the ball does hit the back of the net it will be huge. Watford fired a blank in their previous away game, the opening day loss at Charlton, while Swansea’s only goal thus far has come in front of their home crowd. You’d think if anyone would score here it would be Swansea, with their home advantage and potential reinforcements, though Watford will be no pushovers. However, their poor away form stretching to last term and the challenge Swansea pose mean they may struggle to hit the back of the net here.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

This is a really exciting game so early on. The two sides have started the season in mixed form, and find themselves separated by only goals scored. Both teams have made good moves in the transfer window and, having struggled at times last season, will want to hit their stride early on. Swansea will be encouraged by Alan Sheehan’s performance in his first full season as boss, while Watford have been tipped by many to struggle this season with their manager a complete unknown for most. In this fixture last season, it was completely even, with both sides winning their home game 1-0. Swansea would be more than happy were history to repeat itself here, and 1-0 looks like a very likely scoreline.
