1st prediction for Chesterfield vs Bristol Rovers: Chesterfield to win or draw – 4/25

This is virtually the opposite of what many may would have predicted before the season started. Chesterfield did pretty well in their first season back in the EFL last term, pushing for the play-offs but ultimately falling short. They remain in the fourth tier but have a good chance of going up this time around. Things couldn’t be more different for Rovers, who had a dreadful season last campaign, which saw them relegated from League One with two managers failing to stop the rot. Former boss Darrell Clarke is now in charge and tasked with taking them straight back up. That’s proving harder than initially expected, with the Gas winless so far in all competitions, and with their manager bemoaning the lack of quality. They’ll be looking to avoid a double relegation, and need to stop the rot sooner rather than later. They’ll face a tough task away at Chesterfield though, and will be the underdogs owing to their poor form and Chesterfield’s two wins from two in the league. While things are up in the air at this stage, all the signs are pointing towards a result for Chesterfield.

2nd prediction for Chesterfield vs Bristol Rovers: Under 2.5 goals in the game – 9/10

This should be an interesting game from a goals perspective. Chesterfield have started the season well, scoring three on their way to two wins in a row, and have yet to concede a goal. This sees them into the promotion places at this early stage, and they will hope to keep it up. While they are doing well, they haven’t been incredible up front for the talent they have, with things still needing to fully click at this stage hence the prediction of this not being an attacking classic. The same can be said for Rovers, who have scored only once and really struggled, though they haven’t been dreadful at the back with only three conceded in the league. They’ll know they have a job on their hands here and will look to restrict their opponents and take the odd chance they get.

3rd prediction for Chesterfield vs Bristol Rovers: Both teams to score – No – 1/1

This is a game where everything points to a close-fought affair where there won’t be many goals, and goals will likely only come for one side. Chesterfield will look to make it three from three and potentially go top of the league while Rovers will want to get points on the board and void getting dragged towards the bottom of the league. The sides may play expansively but at this stage things will need ironing out so they will probably play any way that will get them the result rather than their ideal style.  Either way, this will be a cagey affair with both sides looking to restrict one another, and this will likely be reflected in the scoreline.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

This is a really exciting game so early on. The two sides have started the season very differently, with Chesterfield unbeaten and Bristol Rovers without a point. They were in different divisions last year but it’s the former League Two side who are struggling while Chesterfield are flying high. This is a big game as both sides look to make a good start to the season, and a win would be huge for either side.
