Our Three Predictions For Oldham Athletic v Swindon Town

Prediction 1 – Swindon Town To Win – 27/20

Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 13/20

Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 21/10

First Prediction For Oldham Athletic v Swindon Town – Swindon Town To Win – 27/20

Swindon Town have had a mixed start to the season with a win and a loss, and suffered a narrow defeat in the League Cup at Cardiff in midweek. The League is the bread and butter though and the win was at home against Cambridge United in a five goal thriller. So they will want to back that up, to do so they will need to be more assured at the back as they have conceded four already. Oldham Athletic will want to take advantage of that, but will want to be more assertive up front to break the draw habit. Between the two league draws they suffered a 3-1 reverse at Accrington Stanley in the cup, so life back in the EFL hasn’t been as grand as they hoped – yet.

Second Prediction For Oldham Athletic v Swindon Town – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 13/20

There is definitely chances for goals in this game. Oldham have been scoring since their jump back into League Two, but the two they have scored one was in the League Cup. They have been conceding though with four in three games, but more importantly they have kept a clean sheet in the opener, as well as a goal in a 1-1 draw at home to Colchester United. Swindon Town off the best chance of goals at both ends with four scored and conceded, in the league, as well as three goals in the cup match with Cardiff. They attacking threat is real, but the defence will give Oldham an opportunity.

Third Prediction For Oldham Athletic v Swindon Town – Match To End In A Draw – 21/10

Oldham are one of two teams (Colchester) to have drawn both their opening League Two fixtures. This is of course not a bad thing on their return to League Two action. Keeping things tight at the back will be key going forward, but they have to be more adventurous in attack. With Swindon looking to keep a tighter ship at the back they may close up a bit more, even though they do leave that door open as they search for goals. A draw could be the safe bet as the early indication shows that both are fairly even as they scramble for a foothold in the standings.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Micky Mellon will be happy with two draws from the first two games, but at the same time wary that draws will not be enough in the grand scheme of things. The first win has to come sooner rather than later and another chance to gain that at home comes along. At the back Reagan Ogle, Manny Monthe and Donervon Daniels are solid and will need to be so again in this game as Swindon pose a serious threat going forward. Up front Tom Conlon and Mike Fondop have yet to score, which will be a concern. Josh Hawkes is the only scorer in the league, and could prove pivotal from midfield.

Ian Holloway’s side is still trying to find its identity as they have won one, drawn one, and lost out in a close League Cup tie. With four goals scored, they look potent up front, but with the same amount let in, they will need to shore up at the back. The goals have come from four different sources and from all around the pitch. Strikers Harry Smith and Aaron Drinan are both off the mark and have impressed in the two league outings. With consistent displays from Darren Oldaker Ollie Clarke, Will Wright and Finley Munroe, Swindon are in good shape, they just need to be better defensively in this early stage of the season.
