It’s week two of the new EFL season, with sides looking to build on an always unpredictable opening day with a win to put together a strong run of early-season form. Mansfield will be looking to win their first home game of the campaign while Doncaster look to make it two wins from two.
Our 3 predictions for Mansfield Town vs Doncaster Rovers
- 1st prediction: Mansfield Town to win or draw
- 2nd prediction: Over 2.5 goals in the game
- 3rd prediction: Both teams to score
1st prediction for Mansfield Town vs Doncaster Rovers: Mansfield Town to win or draw – 9/25
This is a difficult game to predict. Mansfield had a poor season after starting surprisingly well back in the third tier, and at one point looked like they would get dragged into the relegation picture. A loss at fellow predicted strugglers Burton Albion on the opening day continued their poor run into the new season, and they’ll be hoping a home victory this weekend will put that right despite facing a Doncaster side riding the crest of a wave. They won their first game back in League One against Exeter on opening weekend after coming up from League Two, with a strong second half of the campaign helping them up. The South Yorkshire club have all the momentum but it’s hard to judge on one game back in the league. Being the away side, they are probably underdogs here but it will be close.
2nd prediction for Mansfield Town vs Doncaster Rovers: Over 2.5 goals in the game – 9/10
This should be an entertaining game with plenty of goals. Mansfield leaked two in their opening game against Burton, while Doncaster will find themselves under the cosh owing to their status as a newly promoted team. They will also likely have less possession in this game as the away side, while Mansfield look to kick start their season. They are a good side though, and will fancy themselves here after an ideal start to the season, with another eminently winnable game here. Whatever happens, there should be goals.
3rd prediction for Mansfield Town vs Doncaster Rovers: Both teams to score – 17/25
This is a game where both sides are fairly evenly matched and will want to start the season strongly to set the tone, so we will likely see a very open game. Both sides will want to put on a show and make a statement of intent, with Mansfield wanting a first win of the season in front of their own fans, while Doncaster will want to remain unbeaten to set out their survival credentials early on. With the players on show for both sides, and the fact both will likely be towards the bottom of the table come the end of the season, the teams will look to attack to get points on the board early doors. Either way, both sides will have plenty of opportunity to get themselves on the score sheet.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head
This is a really exciting game so early on. Both sides will look to build a run of good form to start the season, with very differing opening days. Mansfield continued their poor run from last season with a 2-1 loss at Burton, while Doncaster returned to League One with a win over Exeter. A win for either side would be crucial, even at this early stage.
