Eastleigh Accept Record Bid For Winger

Tyrese Shade is on the verge of a return to the EFL after Eastleigh accepted a club-record bid from an unnamed League One side.

The winger now has permission to discuss personal terms, with the Spitfires confirming the deal after weeks of growing interest.

League One Beckons for Prolific National League Forward

Eastleigh released a statement on Monday confirming they had “reluctantly accepted a club-record transfer offer” for 25-year-old Shade. The identity of the buying club remains unknown, but it ends a drawn-out summer in which several EFL sides were linked with the St Kitts and Nevis international.

Shade joined Eastleigh in June 2024 following his release by Swindon Town. His impact in the National League was immediate and profound: 14 goals and eight assists in 39 league appearances during his debut season at Silverlake Stadium. That output made him one of the most productive attackers in non-league football and an obvious target for clubs higher up the pyramid.

Born in Birmingham, Shade began his senior career with Solihull Moors before a five-year spell at Leicester City, where he failed to make a first-team appearance but developed in their U21 set-up. He later spent a season on loan at Walsall and then moved to Swindon Town, scoring six goals in 63 league appearances across two seasons.

He returned to Solihull on loan in early 2024, netting twice in 12 games, before joining Eastleigh permanently last summer.

Statement Signing for Any League One Club

At 6ft tall and comfortable on either wing, Shade has evolved into a direct, powerful attacker who thrives in transitional play. His pace and finishing ability made him a standout in the fifth tier last season and now put him on the brink of a second chance in the EFL.

Internationally, he has earned nine caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis since making his senior debut in March 2023.

Eastleigh manager Kelvin Davis has already overseen a significant rebuild this summer, with experienced arrivals including Jordan Cousins, Aaron Pierre, and Josh Lundstram. While Shade’s exit is a blow, the funds generated could further support the club’s recruitment drive.

Writer’s View

Whoever lands Tyrese Shade is getting a ready-made attacking threat with unfinished business in the Football League. His numbers at Eastleigh speak for themselves, and at 25, he still has time to establish himself as a regular at League One level.

While it’s disappointing for Spitfires fans to see their top scorer depart, this move feels inevitable given his form and age. All eyes now turn to the buying club—because if they can get the best out of Shade, they may have secured one of the most astute deals of the summer
