New Bolton Wanderers Star Reveals First Words

Bolton Wanderers have snatched Lincoln City‘s prized asset, Ethan Erhahon, away from the LNER Stadium as the deal was announced earlier today. The new Bolton midfielder revealed what it meant to sign for the Lancashire side.

When quizzed on the thought process behind agreeing a deal with the League One giants, Erhahon had this to say:

“When a club this size comes calling… I have played here away before. I know the atmosphere and they bring really good numbers away from home as well.

“I don’t think a fanbase like this and a club of this size you can possibly turn down. It was so appealing to me.

“I’m ready to go and looking forward to hopefully hitting the ground running. I can’t wait to see the fans in the away game and the first home game.

“When you come here, you know it is going to be a tough atmosphere to play against. It is all about us using that in our favour this season and making this a hard place to come.”

The Scottish midfielder has already featured heavily, for two sides predominantly, at just 24 years old. Erhahon was a product of the St. Mirren academy and featured 28 times for the first team before being sent on a month-long loan to Barnsley in 2020. After being recalled instantly, the Scottish outfit enjoyed a further 94 appearances from Erhahon, with three goals being offered until a switch to Lincoln City in January 2023.

Lincoln have handed the midfielder over 100 appearances over the past three seasons and considered the former Scotland under-17 international a mainstay in the side. On his previous club experiences, Erhahon offered his thoughts:

“I had a brilliant two-and-a-half-years, a bit different to Scotland. There are a lot more teams, more exciting almost.

“You play every team twice and get to go home and away, it is fun and every team brings a different challenge.

“It has been good to get used to it, Saturday, Tuesdays, something a bit different but that I enjoy as player. Who doesn’t want to play games all the time?

“They gave me a platform to come and play in England, which I had always wanted to do since I was young. I can only thank the club for that.

“I was voted the Fans and Players’ Player of the year in my first season, which was a great achievement because he had some good players that year and finished two points off the play-offs.”

Erhahon can be considered one of the most solid options in a League One midfield and the step up to Championship football would have been an equally as valid option for the Scot.

Bolton are showing real ambition this summer, with the former Lincoln midfielder acting as the ninth signing of the season already.
