Derby County Unveil Signing From Premier League Champions

Derby County have reportedly struck a deal with Premier League champions, Liverpool, as Arne Slot has allowed Owen Beck to once again explore development in the Championship. The loan deal will be year-long with a longer-term future remaining with the Reds.

The 22-year-old featured 25 times for Blackburn Rovers last campaign, scoring one goal in an injury-interrupted season. Derby have successfully reached an agreement with Liverpool for another second tier loan spell. With Bolton Wanderers and Dundee FC spells previously aiding Beck’s development, Eustace will enjoy a second season with the youngster.

During the time with Dundee, Beck scored twice and assisted four times. This proved important after a nine-game, disappointing stint with Bolton.

Glowing Partnership Continues

Eustace’s star left-back last season, following a managerial rejuvenation with Blackburn, is now set to join Derby in a reunion move. The County head coach had this to say about the Liverpool loanee:

“He’s a really exciting young player and I was very fortunate to work with him last year.

“I think everyone could see the growth he made playing in the Championship, and he’s a super young talented player and he’s one of the most exciting full-backs in the country for his age at the moment.

“He’s just a very good young player. There is a lot to improve. That’s my job and the coach’s job in that, whichever player comes to the football club, no matter how old or how young they are, they’re coming into an environment where they’re going to improve, get better, and to make sure that, on a Saturday, they’re very competitive.”

Writer’s View

Beck could do well to continue his development with such a familiar coach. As an obvious first choice in the Derby lineup next season, the 22-year-old will offer an attacking option from defensive transitions. Liverpool will be importantly monitoring the defender’s development and will hope for a full season without an injury this time.

An ageing left-hand side will be transformed with the youthful addition at wing-back. With Corey Blackett-Taylor impressing in pre-season, a surprise partnership could start the season strongly for Derby.
