Port Vale have put an end to the transfer speculation surrounding teenage sensation Jack Shorrock by announcing the wing-back has committed his future to the club with a new three-year deal.
The academy graduate holds the record for the Valliants youngest ever player after he made his debut aged just 15 in 2022 in an EFL Trophy game against Shrewsbury Town. Since then, he has quietly started to establish himself in the team, making 22 appearances in all competitions as Vale earned promotion from League Two.
Last season proved to be somewhat of a breakthrough campaign for the 18-year-old. He was named the League Two Apprentice of the Season in April, whilst he also won the club’s goal of the season for his stunning strike against rivals Crewe Alexandra in November.
It was this kind of form that led to rumours that Derby County were interested in acquiring his services, with the Rams allegedly considering launching a ÂŁ2 million bid. That has now been put to bed after it was announced that Shorrock has penned fresh terms tying him down at the club until 2028.
Shorrock Excited To Continue Journey At Port Vale
Shorrock made 12 League One appearances for Vale during the 2023/24 season, which eventually saw them relegated. After bouncing back at the first opportunity, the youngster will now get a fresh chance to showcase his abilities in the third tier.

Speaking to official club media following the announcement, he said:
“It’s a step forward that I think I’ve earned, but there’s no need to get ahead of myself.
“I just need to keep doing what I’m doing, and try to help the team as much as I can. I love it here; it’s a great club full of great people, so I enjoy myself every single day.”
Manager Darren Moore also shared his delight, saying:
“Jack is a fantastic young man and talented player, who we believe has a really bright future ahead of him. This new contract recognises all of his hard work, and we’re really pleased to be continuing his development here at Vale Park.”

This is fantastic news for all concerned at Port Vale, who have now protected their interests. Shorrock is expected to have a big career and if he can continue his development in the same fashion as the past couple of years, could generate a healthy sum for the Valliants somewhere down the line. In the short term, having a player with his obvious ability in their ranks will strengthen their chances of League One survival this season.
