Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has held talks with Manchester United over a potential summer transfer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The 28-year-old has played a pivotal role in the Foxes recent history, racking up over 300 appearances since his £17 million transfer from Belgian outfit Genk in January 2017. He has since picked up several major honours, winning Leicester’s first FA Cup, the Community Shield and latterly, the Championship title in 2024.
Ndidi has consistently been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium, especially last summer as Leicester moved back into the Premier League. However, he committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year deal.
The East Midlands-based outfit suffered a dreadful campaign and they suffered instant relegation back to the second tier. It has since emerged that the Nigerian international’s new terms included a £9 million relegation clause, which has alerted a host of clubs around Europe to his availability.
Manchester United Considering Ndidi Approach
It was reported last week that Ndidi was likely to move to the Bundesliga, with Hoffenheim and Mainz amongst the teams hoping to steal a bargain. That is despite Premier League interest, where Everton have been the most likely destination should the midfielder opt to stay in England.
Manchester United emerged as a rival to the Toffees earlier this month, but it has now been stated that talks have taken place between the 66-cap international and the 20-time English champions. However, an official approach is likely to depend on outgoings.
Wilfred Ndidi still expected to leave Leicester City this summer. Leverkusen are the latest club to enquire.

The Red Devils are in the midst of their biggest rebuild of the last 50 years after recording their lowest top flight finish of the Premier League era. They have already added Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to their ranks and are still prioritising a new striker. As such, Ndidi’s potential move to Old Trafford depends on a number of circumstances.
Writer’s View
Ndidi would be an excellent signing for Manchester United, especially due to the low transfer fee involved. It’s no surprise that interest is beginning to heat up for the midfielder, with the likes of Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis also said to be keen. For Leicester, it would be a bitter blow to lose such a key player, who has played a huge role in their squad for the best part of nine years. £9 million seems a low fee for such a talented player, but it was likely the only way to keep him at the club last season.
