Truro City Confirm Oxlade-Chamberlain Capture

Truro City have re-signed Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain on a permanent basis following his release from Kidderminster Harriers, with the experienced defender penning a two-year deal ahead of the club’s first-ever campaign in the National League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is the brother of former England midfielder Alex and son of ex-international Mark, played a pivotal role in Truro’s stunning promotion from National League South last season. He was a near ever-present during his loan spell, missing just one match as the Tinners sealed the title on the final day.

The former Portsmouth youth product initially joined Truro on a short-term loan in August but extended his stay twice, cementing his place in the starting XI and scoring twice across the campaign. His long throw-in also proved a useful attacking weapon in manager Paul Wotton’s system.

“After what we achieved last season, it was only right to carry things on into the new league to see what we could do,” said Oxlade-Chamberlain. “It’s almost silly when I think back to when I signed, considering what we went on to achieve. Promotion certainly wasn’t on my bingo card, but it was a great way to finish the season.”

He also paid tribute to the fanbase, highlighting the unique bond he has developed with the club and the local community.

“The fans – and I don’t know if it’s a Cornish thing – seem to appreciate anyone who comes down here and gives it their all. I’ve had a great time with everyone.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain becomes the club’s third summer addition, joining fellow new signings Harry Kite and Lirak Hasani as Truro prepare to make the leap into Step 1. With the 2025/26 season just weeks away, the squad has returned to pre-season training, and the defender says the hard work has already begun.

“There will be some tough games against really good teams and long away days, but we all want to play football—that’s why we do it. I can’t wait for the first game.”

Writer’s View

This is more than just a routine signing—it’s a reward for loyalty, consistency, and connection. Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t just help Truro to promotion; he became a symbol of the togetherness that drove them over the line. With experience across the pyramid and a strong family football pedigree, he’s an ideal character to help anchor the club as they adjust to the National League.

His return adds continuity, leadership, and that intangible ‘buy-in’ that every newly promoted side craves. Truro have made a smart, emotionally resonant move—one that strengthens the dressing room as much as the pitch.
