Bolton Wanderers Confirm Latest Addition To Attack

Bolton Wanderers head coach Steve Schumacher is continuing his summer rebuild after confirming the signing of winger Thierry Gale.

The former Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City boss replaced Ian Evatt in January and almost immediately saw an upturn in results. By March, the Trotters had broken into the top six, but they then suffered a dreadful loss of form to eventually finish eighth.

Under Schumacher’s guidance, Bolton are expected to launch a serious bid for promotion this season. They have already begun to make waves in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of League Two winner Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Wrexham attacker Sam Dalby and midfielder Xavier Simons from Hull City.

Another Addition To Front Line

Alongside Dalby, the Greater Manchester-based side also won the race for highly rated non-league gem Charlie Warren. Today, they have announced another addition to their attacking options, with confirmation of the signing of Barbados international Thierry Gale.

The 23-year-old has spent much of his career around Europe, playing in Hungary, Georgia, Austria and Poland. This move represents his first taste of English football and he joins the club from Rapid Wien on a four-year deal. Speaking to official club media, Schumacher revealed he was delighted to get the deal over the line:

“I am thrilled to welcome Thierry to Bolton Wanderers.

“He is the type of player and profile that we have been looking for, and I am sure he is going to be someone who the fans will be excited to see week-in-week-out.

“He will offer us something different and is a player we believe has massive potential to grow during his time here. He is quick, explosive and a footballer that gets you on the edge of your seat and we are delighted to have him ahead of our upcoming trip abroad to help him settle into the group as quickly as we can.”

The left winger also shared his eagerness to hit the ground running, saying:

“I’m very happy to be here.

“Bolton are a huge club and when I looked into the club deeper and the high number of quality players that have played here – as well as the stadium and the history – there was no doubt in my mind.

“I have always wanted to play in England, so it is a dream come true to be here and playing for Bolton. I can’t wait to get started.”

Writer’s View

Not much is known about Gale but Schumacher is a manager who does his homework. He built a reputation of building a young squad whilst at Plymouth, which eventually saw him win the League One title with 101 points. Their summer business is still far from done though, with a £700,000 move for midfielder Jesper Ceesay from Swedish outfit IFK Norrköping reportedly nearing its conclusion.
