Crawley Town midfielder Panutche Camara has rejected the offer of a new contract and completed a move to Scottish Premiership side Dundee United, reports Sussex World.
Camara has activated a relegation release clause in his deal to facilitate the move.
A Blow For Crawley
Panutche Camara’s departure is a blow for the Red Devils as they look to prepare for life back in League Two after relegation by the narrowest of margins last season.
Camara returned to Broadfield Stadium at the start of last season for a second spell with the club. He appeared in 47 matches in all competitions, including 42 League One outings in which he contributed four goals and four assists.
Despite Town’s challenging season, the Guinea-Bissau International finished the campaign strongly with impressive performances against Birmingham City, Exeter City, Shrewsbury Town and a man of the match display in the victory over Northampton Town.
On his departure, Crawley said:
“While the club is disappointed to see Panutche go, we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours.”
Camara Excited For New Adventure
Dundee United announced the transfer on their X account and were delighted to get their man, confirming he had signed a two-year deal.
Camara shared his pleasure at the move and the excitement that European football brings.
“I’ve worked so hard to play in a top division – I always give everything. It’ll be a new experience to play in Europe but that is a dream for everybody.”
The former Plymouth Argyle midfielder also outlined what he feels he will bring to a Dundee United side that finished fourth and will head into the Europa Conference League playoffs.
“I’m so happy to be here and I can’t wait to start. I always give everything and run more than everyone else – that’s one of my biggest strengths! I’m really excited for a new adventure and the year ahead. We can build on a positive season and keep achieving great things.”
Writer’s View
This is a blow to Crawley Town as they prepare themselves for League Two but a great opportunity for Camara to play top-flight and European football.
It was suggested that he was played too deep at Crawley, stifling his attacking abilities so it will be interesting to see how The Tangerines choose to use him.
