Grimsby Town have completed the signing of wide forward Justin Amaluzor following his standout season with National League outfit Altrincham.
The 28-year-old has penned a two-year deal at Blundell Park, marking his return to the EFL after nearly a decade away.
Artell Makes First Summer Move With Proven National League Talent
Amaluzor becomes the first new arrival under David Artell this summer, joining on a free transfer after his contract with Altrincham expired. The former Barnet winger featured 76 times for Alty, scoring 13 goals across all competitions and playing a central role in their charge to the National League play-offs in 2023/24.
His contribution was vital in helping the club secure a fourth-place finish, though they narrowly missed out on promotion after a semi-final defeat to eventual winners Bromley.
Artell, who is preparing for his first full season in charge at Blundell Park, was full of praise for the new arrival:
“Justin comes off the back of an excellent season at Altrincham and we feel he has a really high ceiling to continue his growth. He’s young, hungry and adds something completely different to the current squad. We are all looking forward to working with him!”
Amaluzor began his professional career with Barnet, making his EFL debut on his 18th birthday after progressing through the club’s youth system. After three years at the Hive, he had short spells with Braintree Town and Maidstone United, building his reputation in non-league football.
In 2021, he made the jump to the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell but returned to England soon after, signing for Aldershot Town. His form there earned him a move to Altrincham in the summer of 2023, where he has been a consistent attacking threat from the flanks.
Primarily deployed on the right but capable of playing across the frontline, Amaluzor is known for his pace, directness, and ability to stretch defences. His arrival adds further depth to a Grimsby squad aiming to climb the League Two table following a challenging 2024/25 campaign.

Writer’s View
This is an astute piece of business from David Artell. Justin Amaluzor has been one of the National League’s more dynamic attackers in recent seasons and fits the mould of a player ready to step back into the EFL with something to prove. His blend of experience and untapped potential makes him a smart gamble for a Grimsby side looking to freshen up its wide options.
Artell is clearly targeting energetic, forward-thinking players to suit his style, and if Amaluzor can replicate his Altrincham form, the Mariners may have secured one of the division’s more underrated summer additions.
