Former Chesterfield Boss Lands New Role In Sixth Tier

Former Chesterfield manager James Rowe has been announced as the new boss of National League North outfit Kings Lynn Town, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

Rowe has replaced Adam Lakeland on a long-term deal.

New Boss Outlines His Plans

Following his unveiling, the 41-year-old discussed what he was aiming to achieve and how he wishes his side to play during his time with the Linnets.

“Passion, attacking on the front foot, worrying more about ourselves than the opposition and obviously, I don’t like to lose, so hopefully we’re going to win more than we lose.”

Rowe claims that promotion to the National League is ‘ultimately the goal’ but also that he is looking forward to developing and progressing the club alongside the new ownership.

“It’s always about looking up rather than down, so of course, I want to take King’s Lynn back into the National League.”

“That’s ultimately the goal here in my period…”

The Linnets finished in the National League North playoff places before losing out to Chorley at the first knockout hurdle. Rowe is excited to build on that performance.

“Do I think it’s a big job? Of course, it’s got so much potential here and that’s why I’ve joined.”

Rowe Asks For An Open Mind

The former AFC Fylde manager discussed his new club’s situation and how he wants to provide consistency both on and off the field.

“There’s been a lot of turmoil and there’s been a lot of inconsistencies, I would say, reading the history over the last few years. There’s been some good work, but some inconsistencies.”

“It’s about now being consistent with our message. It’s about being consistent and delivering what we’re promising on and off the field, and I’m very confident we can do that.”

He also had a message for those fans who have drifted away from the club.

“And for me, the main message is, give us a chance.”

“The ones (fans) that are not here anymore, come and have a look.”

“Come and see what you think and be open-minded to the changes – strap yourselves in, because it’s going to be one hell of a ride here now.

Writer’s View

Rowe may have been out of football for some time now due to issues in his private life, but his records at Gloucester City and Chesterfield should provide hope for Lynn supporters.

With his personal life seemingly more settled, Kings Lynn and Rowe will be hoping to put an end to the club’s problems and provide stability and challenge for a place in the National League.
