Queens Park Rangers search for a new manager has seen the club contact Johannes Hoff Thorup according to a report.
The R’s are in the process of finding a new manager with current boss Marti Cifuentes placed on gardening leave, with the Spaniard being relieved of his duties before the final game of the season amid heavy links to the vacancy at West Bromwich Albion.
Hoff Thorup Approached
According to John Percy in the Telegraph, QPR have contacted former Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup about the job, less than a month removed from his sacking at Carrow Road. The Canaries decided to sack the Danish manager weeks before the end of the season as their play-off hopes dwindled.
However, he is not the only man in the frame to take over at Loftus Road, with former Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Ljinders also expected to be interviewed for the post. He was Jurgen Klopp’s second in command at Anfield between 2018 and the German’s departure at the end of last season, winning every major honour in the process.
He went his own way in the following summer by taking charge at Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, but a disappointing start saw him sacked by December in just his second senior management role.

Writers’ View
Queens Park Rangers’ decision to move on from Marti Cifuentes has yielded perhaps a positive move in approaching Johannes Hoff Thorup about the role. His time at Norwich was by no means a success with just a 29% win rate, but it saw some exciting football, with The Canaries ranking second in the Championship scoring charts. Whilst at Loftus Road, he will not have the sublime talents of Borja Sainz or Josh Sargent at his disposal, that eagerness to get forward and attack more may unlock players like Ilias Chair to have more freedom. They will need to find new forwards in the summer, as, barring Michael Frey, the club lacked serious goalscoring threats.
