Our Three Predictions For Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers

- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 4/5
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 11/10
First Prediction For Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers – Charlton Athletic To Win – 6/5
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Adams Park on Sunday in a game of very few chances. That’s understandable with so much riding on the outcome, but Charlton will be the happier with the result. The Addicks will now be looking to get the job done in front of their own supporters in what is expected to be a packed out Valley. Nathan Jones will be confident they can do just that, especially after they completed a league double of the Chairboys last month. They’re also in excellent form at home, having not lost in the league since Crawley Town left the capital with a 2-1 victory in December.
Wycombe spent the majority of the campaign in a two-way battle for that second automatic promotion spot with Wrexham. They fell short after suffering a late season collapse and were even overtaken by Stockport County and Charlton to finish fifth. They enter this game on a four game winless run, with the draw in the first leg halting a run of three consecutive defeats. Although the form book is out of the window when it comes to the play-offs, momentum is key and Wycombe simply appear to be running on empty.
Second Prediction For Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers – Both Teams To Score – 4/5
Although the first leg was a cagey affair, the return meeting should be a much more open game. Their seasons now rest on the back of one game and they will be forced to have a go in order to earn a place at Wembley. Charlton’s home form mean shows that they are likely to find the back of the net, whilst Wycombe possess an excellent attacking threat in Richard Kone.
The score finished 2-1 to Charlton in their earlier meeting at The Valley this season. There has also been seven previous clashes between the two in South London in League One over the years, with six of them seeing both teams score.
Third Prediction For Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers – Over 2.5 Goals – 11/10
Charlton’s fixtures this season have returned a 51% success rate in this market, a figure which included their last four league outings prior to their 0-0 draw on Sunday. However, this does increase slightly to 52% on home soil. Wycombe rank slightly lower at 47%, although that increases to a staggering 61% away from Adams Park.
It’s also worth taking into account that the two league meetings earlier this season between the pair generated at least three goals, with Charlton winning 2-1 at The Valley and 4-0 at Adams Park. Five of the last seven clashes between the two in the capital have also achieved the same result.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Putting aside the 0-0 draw in the first leg, Charlton enter this game in much better form. Their 3-0 defeat against Wrexham on the penultimate day ended their automatic promotion hopes, but that was their only defeat from their last eight league games. Six of those ended in victory, with the other seeing them fight back to snatch a 2-2 draw against Lincoln City in April. That run also including a 4-0 win over Wycombe, whilst they finished the regular season with a comfortable 3-1 triumph over Burton Albion.
The Chairboys will be bitterly disappointed to be in this position. They appeared to be on course for a top two finish for much of the campaign, but suffered a dreadful relapse in form at just the wrong time. They began April with a 0-0 draw against Shrewsbury Town, who were eventually relegated, before slipping to a 1-0 defeat at Reading. Mike Dodds’ team recovered to record three successive victories over Huddersfield Town (1-0), Stevenage (1-0) and Bolton Wanderers (2-0). However, it all went wrong from there and they ended the season with three successive losses against Charlton (4-0), Leyton Orient (1-0) and Stockport County (3-1). That final result saw the Hatters clinch third place, with Wycombe dropping to fifth, their lowest position since October.
The Addicks possess the much stronger record in this fixture, winning nine of the previous 16 clashes. This includes both league games this season. Wycombe have won four, whilst their 0-0 draw in the first leg was the third time the scores have ended level between the two.
