Our 3 predictions for Carlisle United vs Salford City

  • 1st prediction: Salford City to win or draw
  • 2nd prediction: Over 2.5 goals in the game
  • 3rd prediction: Both teams to score

1st prediction for Carlisle United vs Salford City: Salford City to win or draw – 4/25

This is an incredibly difficult game to predict. Carlisle could go one of two ways; they can’t move from their 23rd place so they may be on the beach, so to speak. Mark Hughes will certainly have one eye on next season whether he is at the club or not, so this game may give an insight into their 2025-26 campaign. On the other hand, they may feel freedom now their fate is sealed and play without pressure, which could see them build on their recent good spell despite a dreadful season. Salford on the other hand have everything to play for. They currently sit in the last play-off spot courtesy of their goal difference advantage over Grimsby so the equation here is simple. Win and they are in the play-offs. A draw may be enough given their goal difference but they won’t take any chances and will go for it here.

2nd prediction for Carlisle United vs Salford City: Over 2.5 goals in the game – 11/25

This should be an entertaining game with plenty of goals. Carlisle will play with plenty of freedom now they are down, and will look to entertain a home crowd that hasn’t had much to cheer as their team has suffered two relegations in a row. Carlisle are in good form at the moment, though too late to save them, and they have scored plenty. Mark Hughes’s side put three past promoted Port Vale which highlights that anything can happen in this league, and they may yet spoil Salford’s play-off hopes. The away side have won their last two and will hope to generate plenty of momentum ahead of a potential play-off campaign. It is in their hands and they know a win will do it so they need to play for three points.

3rd prediction for Carlisle United vs Salford City: Both teams to score – 11/25

This will likely be an experimental game for Carlisle; they have nothing to play for so Mark Hughes will likely use it to assess his squad and work on imprinting his way of doing things before what they will hope will be a more successful 2025/26 season. This likely means they will play with more freedom with less riding on the game, so will hopefully look more of a threat going forward. As for Salford, they have to go for it to stand any chance of getting into the play-offs. They won’t rest as they look for a win, as a draw may not be enough depending on what other teams do. They will want to get their shooting boots on to gain momentum before a play-off campaign, so this looks like a high scorer for both sides.

This is a big game in League Two; while Carlisle are already down it’s huge for Salford who would confirm a play-off spot with a win.

In terms of form coming into this, both sides are doing well. Carlisle have three wins in their last six which has seen them off the foot of the table, while Salford have won their last two which has helped get momentum ahead of a potential play-off campaign.
