Despite the uncertainty of which league Coventry City will play in next season, The Sky Blues have identified a possible summer transfer target according to a report.
Frank Lampard has taken the West Midlands club back into the play-off places with two games to go, harkening back to when now-Stoke City boss Mark Robins led the club to penalty heartbreak at Wembley just under two years ago.
Charlton Athletic Man On Radar
According to a report from Football League World, Charlton Athletic man Terry Taylor has become a player of interest for Coventry. The 23-year-old has been out on loan at Northampton Town, and has become one of Kevin Nolan’s leading figures for The Cobblers as they found form late in the campaign.
He has played 23 times in the third tier this season, 17 of which came for Town and has scored once and assisted twice. It is believed that there are other, as yet unnamed sides, interested in a move for the Wales youth international.
Starting positions in the midfield at the CBS Arena are very competitive, with Josh Eccles, Matt Grimes, Ben Sheaf, Jack Rudoni and Jamie Allen all vying for positions. Sky Blues also recruited in the position mid-season with the free agent signing of Jamie Paterson, who has often been utilised by Lampard as a left winger when necessary.
Writer’s View
Clubs will always be examining the market for potential moves and Coventry will be pleased by what they have scouted of Terry Taylor. The 23-year-old may not be lighting it up with one of the best clubs in the division but he has become a standout for a Northampton side that has recovered immensely under Kevin Nolan. Whilst it would be unlikely that he would become a starter upon arriving at City, it would be a good place to develop with further loan moves in mind. However, the best place for him is probably at Charlton, as Nathan Jones will no doubt have been impressed by his performances at Sixfields, and may become an intrinsic part of the Addicks’ future next season.
