A crucial game in the League One promotion race. Huddersfield Town host Wycombe Wanderers, with both sides dropping points at the weekend, they lost pace in their battle for the playoffs and automatic promotion respectively. A win in this game is vital.
Our Three Predictions For Huddersfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers
- Prediction 1 – Wycombe Wanderers To Win – 81/50
- Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 23/20
- Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1
First Prediction For Huddersfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers – Wycombe Wanderers To Win – 81/50
This is a must win game for The Chariboys, as they need to try and regain the lost ground on Wrexham from the weekend. The loss at Reading was only their fourth away defeat of the campaign, but coupled with a win for the Welsh side now sees them cut adrift and will need help to gain that second automatic promotion spot. They do have the best away record in the whole of League One, better than runaway leaders Birmingham City. They have won 10 of their 20 road games and gained 36 points. They have dropped some recently though, the loss this past weekend followed a draw at Peterborough United, as well as the inevitable loss at Birmingham. Huddersfield do have a fairly decent home record, the ninth best in fact, and will also be out for all three points in their chase for the playoffs. The need of Wanderers is that little bit greater though and they should have just enough to gain maximum points.
Second Prediction For Huddersfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 23/20
Wycombe have not been involved in too many high scoring games of late, but now the pressure is on and the they will have to be at their best to outscore a determined Terriers team. The home team have quite a mean defence at home having only conceded 17, so they will be tough to break down. Having said that the Wycombe strike force has been immense on their travels having scored 40 goals. If they continue this trend they are good for two goals at least, meaning Huddersfield just need to chip in with one goal to make this a good bet, and given that Wycombe have conceded 26 times on the road, this could be a game where both teams find the net on multiple occasions, and also the timing of this game with so much on the line, could mean a shootout.
Third Prediction For Huddersfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1
Short odds on this one and it is easy to see why. Both have so much to gain, and therefore so much to lose. Will either come out all guns blazing? Well looking at recent games Huddersfield have kept largely a tight ship with only one game in the last six at home being a blowout, a 5-1 win against Crawley Town. They have only drawn four games at home though and seven overall, which may suggest they are an all or nothing type of side. The fact that Wycombe will come into this game with a don’t lose attitude may also mean they may bot be as open and fluid, but they always score goals, a huge 65 overall, with 40 away. They have record six draws on the road, so they are not completely gung-ho, so we can look for this one to be a high scoring draw, which doesn’t leave either side better off in their respective promotion chase.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
Jon Worthington is on the cusp of making this a great season for Huddersfield Town, but some poor results of late have left them in pack that could end up with any of five teams claiming the last playoff place. They will want to pick up a valuable three points in this game and regain some momentum in the final weeks. For that top happen they will goals from the likes of 20-year-old Callum Marshall, the young striker leads the way in terms of goals scored and will want to add to his nine so far. Josh Koroma has added seven, and between them have five assists. At the back they need 31-year-old Matthew Pearson to guide an otherwise young defensive group in the run in. He has scored five times too. and more of those will be welcome from the back. This is a team that can still gain a playoff place, but anymore defeats will put paid to that dream.
Richard Kone is in line for the golden boot with his 18 goals, and the 21-year-old from the Ivory Coast will have his sight on not just that but firing Wycombe Wanderers to what is now an unlikely automatic promotion place. Some recent results have come at a bad time, and perhaps the pressure is starting to show. There is still time for Mike Dodds’ men to make this an epic season, but for now it is put of their control and they will need to likely win all their remaining games. As well as Kone’s goals they have scored plenty. Cameron Humphreys has seven and is a perfect foil for Kone. Defensively they have not been completely rock solid and that is why they have slipped recently. Caleb Taylor has started 29 times and is the player with the most appearances for Wanderers so far, despite being only 22. Wycombe have has the sense of a team trying to hang on to Wrexham, and with the loss at Reading this past weekend this is even more the case.
