Our Three Predictions for Blackburn Rovers vs Sheffield Wednesday

  • First Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday to win – 81/50
  • Second Prediction: Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 33/100
  • Third Prediction: Both teams to score – No – 17/20

First Prediction for Blackburn Rovers vs Sheffield Wednesday – Sheffield Wednesday to win – 81/50

With the form Blackburn are in, it’s no surprise to see the bookies backing Sheffield Wednesday. Valerien Ismael’s side have lost their last five games in a row, and haven’t won since mid-February. Although Wednesday haven’t won in their last three matches, they remain unbeaten in their last three away games. Unusually, Sheffield Wednesday’s away form is much better than their home form, winning nine of their 20 matches on the road, but only winning five of their 20 matches played at Hillsborough. With Blackburn’s poor form, alongside the fact that Wednesday tend to be better on the road than at home, it wouldn’t be surprising if Danny Rohl’s side get the better of their opponents at Ewood Park tomorrow evening.ย

Second Prediction for Blackburn Rovers vs Sheffield Wednesday – Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 33/100

Both sides have average records when it comes to scoring goals this season in the Championship. On average, the hosts score 1.05 goals, whilst the away side’s record sits at 1.35 goals scored per game. Rohl’s side have the joint-third worst defensive record in the second tier this season, shipping 61 goals in 40 games, which is the worst record out of the top 15 sides. Per game, on average, they concede 1.52 goals, whilst Rovers concede 1.08. The away side have kept nine clean sheets from a possible 40 games, three of which have come in 2025, whilst the hosts have kept 13, however, only four of these have come in 2025. The statistics suggest that there is going to be over 1.5 goals scored in this clash.ย

Third Prediction for Blackburn Rovers vs Sheffield Wednesday – Both teams to score – No – 17/20

Contrary to my last point, since the new Blackburn manager Ismael took the job, his side have only scored three times in six matches. On top of their dismal form, they haven’t found the back of the net in the last two games, and despite the fact that Sheffield Wednesday have a dismal record of their own in terms of their defensive record, the hosts have really struggled for goals since former manager John Eustace departed Ewood Park. As mentioned previously, their average goal-scoring record per game for the season is only 1.05. They do not have a player who has scored more than seven goals in the league, with their top scorer being the injured Andreas Weimann, who has scored seven goals. With the form the hosts are in, alongside the fact that they have struggled for goals as of late, it looks likely that they will struggle once again to find the back of the net.ย

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, the hosts are in awful form, losing five consecutive games in a row. Wednesday’s form isn’t much better, winning two of their last five, but not winning in their last three games.

With six games left of the EFL season, both sides are eight points off the play-off spots. Although it looks unlikely at this stage, three points could potentially fuel the fire a late play-off push.

Since 2011, these sides have met each other 20 times, 19 of these 20 clashes coming in the Championship. Sheffield Wednesday have won the majority of the ties, winning nine, whilst their opponents have won seven. The other four games have ended level at full time. Blackburn won when these sides met earlier this season, winning 1-0 at Hillsborough.
