Chesterfield’s forward Kane Drummond has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a foot and ankle injury, adding to the club’s injury woes.
Drummond, 24, last featured for the team on February 22 in a 1-0 defeat to Swindon Town, and he has missed the last eight games. It has now been confirmed that he will not return to action this campaign.
The former Macclesfield Town player sustained the injury during training and has been wearing a protective boot as part of his recovery process. Despite the bad news, Chesterfield manager Danny Webb provided some positive updates on his progress.
“He has been ruled out for the season but progress has been positive,” Webb told the Derbyshire Times.
Drummond had previously enjoyed a successful spell at Macclesfield, where he was part of the team that earned two consecutive promotions. He made an impact in the Northern Premier League, winning individual accolades and contributing to his team’s rise through the divisions. After a successful stint at Macclesfield, Drummond joined Chesterfield on a one-year deal in May 2024.
His first season at Chesterfield had seen moments of promise, including his first league goal for the club against Tranmere in December 2024. Drummond also spent time on loan at Oldham Athletic during the first part of the 2024-25 season, but this injury setback has brought an untimely end to his campaign.
Other Injury News
In other injury news, Jack Sparkes continues to recover from a knee injury. Although he remains sidelined, there is hope that Sparkes could return to the pitch before the end of the season. This adds to the growing list of injuries at Chesterfield, leaving Webb with a selection headache as the team pushes for a play-off spot.

For Chesterfield, losing Kane Drummond for the remainder of the season is a significant blow, especially as they look to continue their push for a play-off spot. Drummond had shown flashes of brilliance, and his absence leaves a void in the attacking department.
With other key players also sidelined, the club will need to rely on its depth and the emerging talents of its squad to navigate the final stages of the campaign.
