Ben Davies has expressed his satisfaction with his loan move from Rangers to Birmingham City, which has been a highly successful spell so far.
The 29-year-old centre-back, who struggled for regular game time at Ibrox, has become a key figure in Chris Davies’ squad, making 37 appearances, including 29 in League One.
As Birmingham now sit nine points clear of second-placed Wrexham with two games in hand, Davies looks set to be part of a title-winning side, with a league winner’s medal potentially on the horizon. His performances have earned him widespread praise from the Blues’ supporters, who have grown fond of him in central defence.
Future at Birmingham a Possibility for Davies
While there is no option to buy in the loan agreement between Rangers and Birmingham, Davies has made it clear that he would seriously consider making his move permanent if the opportunity arises. With his contract at Rangers running until 2026, Davies admitted that his future is still up in the air, but he is focused on finishing the season strongly and then weighing his options in the summer.
“I haven’t thought about it. I came on loan to play a lot of games and hopefully help Birmingham back up and have a good season. I’m happy with how it’s going here but I’ll think about that and consider all my options in the summer,” Davies explained after a 4-1 victory over Shrewsbury. “I’m going to work here till the summer then see what my agent says. I’m really enjoying it here so if the opportunity arose I’d consider it seriously.”
Davies’ current situation at Rangers is uncertain, as he does not seem to have a long-term future at the club. His move to Birmingham has given him the regular playing time he needed, and it’s clear that he’s settled in well. It’s not hard to imagine that he may prefer to stay in the Midlands rather than return to a team where he was never able to secure a regular spot.

Writer’s View
Ben Davies has clearly found a club that suits him in Birmingham, and with the form he’s shown, a permanent move could be beneficial for both him and the club. Given the expected changes at Rangers, Davies should seriously consider his future and could look to make the move to Birmingham a permanent one. The opportunity for regular game time and a successful season makes it an ideal choice for him.
