Cardiff City welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Cardiff City Stadium in desperate need of points to keep their heads above the Championship drop zone. The Bluebirds have won just two of their last nine league outings, with one of those victories coming two weeks ago before the international break against Blackburn Rovers.
The Welsh club left Lancashire with all three points thanks to goals from Yousef Salech and Yakou Meite. That victory was only the second time Omer Riza’s side have won on the road this season, the other away success coming before the turn of the year at Watford.
Prior to victory at Ewood Park, had lost three on the bounce at home to at home to Burnley, away at Sunderland and at home to Luton Town in a vitally important relegation clash. Cardiff have scored 42 goals this season at an average of 1.1 per game with top scorer Callum Robinson helping himself to 12 and Yousef Salech has five. Rubin Colwill and Cian Ashford lead the assist charts with four and three respectively.
City’s defence has been easily broken down this season and they have conceded the second most goals in the league with 62 at an average of 1.6 per match.
Sheffield Wednesday come into this fixture off the back of a Steel City Derby defeat to bitter rivals Sheffield United, going down to a 64th minute Rhian Brewster strike. The Owls’ form has been inconsistent all season and their last 10 games have produced four wins and five defeats.

The win at Carrow Road saw Wednesday come from two goals behind to claim the points. Goals from Michael Ihiekwe, Josh Windass and Djeidi Gassama completed the second half turnaround.
The Owls are 12th in the league table and will still be holding out hopes a challenging for a spot in the playoffs as they are six points behind 6th place West Bromwich Albion with eight games remaining. Rohl’s side has amassed 51 points from 38 games, winning 14 and losing 15 of those.

The clubs met three times during the 2023-24 season with Cardiff claiming a league double but went out of the FA Cup to the Yorkshire side. A 98th minute Ryan Wintle penalty handed the Bluebirds a 2-1 win at the Cardiff City Stadium before the Welsh side again claimed a late 2-1 win at Hillsborough thanks to an Akin Famewo own goal with two minutes to go.
