Our Three Predictions for Leeds United vs Swansea City

  • First Prediction: Leeds United to win – 9/50
  • Second Prediction: Both teams to score – no – 1/2
  • Third Prediction: Joel Piroe to score at any time – 13/10

First Prediction for Leeds United vs Swansea City – Leeds United to win – 9/50

League-leaders Leeds United have suffered a recent dip in form, allowing other teams to catch up with them going into the business end of the season. However, the two-week international break has given Daniel Farke and his side a break regarding domestic football, which Leeds fans will hope acts as a reset button. As second-placed Sheffield United play on Friday, the hosts will know what they have to do, which is keep winning, regarding what sides do around them. The fact that their goal difference is astronomically better than teams around them plays in their favour. It won’t play in their favour, however, if they start dropping points against opponents they should be winning against. Furthermore, Farke’s side have the best home record in the Championship this season, only losing one of their 19 fixtures which they have played at Elland Road this season. Their opponents have only won five games on the road in the league and come into this one on the back of two losses. Swansea City are also managerless after sacking Luke Williams last month. This is a game Leeds should be winning if they are serious about going up to the Premier League as champions.

Second Prediction for Leeds United vs Swansea City – Both teams to score – no – 1/2

The Jacks have one of the worst goalscoring records in the Championship this season, with midfielder Liam Cullen acting as the club’s top-scorer. Millwall and Luton Town are the two sides who have a worse record in front of goal than Swansea. Also playing against the away side is Leeds’ defensive record, which is the second-best in the second-tier. This season, they have conceded a mere nine goals in 19 home games, with Swansea only scoring 13 times on the road. It would come as no shock if the hosts were to score, however, as they have found the net 76 times in 38 games in the league alone. On average per game, the Whites only concede 0.66 goals, whilst Alan Sheehan’s side concede 1.29. On top of this, Swansea have failed to score in their last two games and in 15 games in all competitions. Leeds have also kept a whopping 21 league clean sheets. All the stats suggest that both teams are unlikely to score in this encounter.

Third Prediction for Leeds United vs Swansea City – Joel Piroe to score at any time – 13/10

Although the Dutchman hasn’t been firing on all cylinders in the last couple of matches, he is still one of the best Championship strikers this season and is still the second-highest scorer this season, two behind Norwich City’s Borja Sainz. It’s written in the stars for Piroe to score against his former club, who he made over 90 appearances for in all competitions. The 25-year-old hasn’t scored in four games, but has still scored five goals in his last 10 games, and will no doubt be looking to add to his tally further against one of his former sides.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, neither side come into this game in great form, both sides only winning two of their last five matches. However, since then, both sides have had a two-week international break.

Three points would be crucial for either side for different reasons, Leeds at the top of the table and Swansea nearing the bottom. With other sides on their tale, the hosts need to win to stay first. Their opponents are a mere six points off the relegation zone, which is also close going into the business end of the season. Depending on other results from around the grounds, they could potentially extend that gap to nine points if they were to pick up all three on Saturday.

Since 2010, these sides have only met nine times, all of which have come in the Championship. Farke’s side have won the majority of the ties, with six, with two ending in Swansea wins and the other tie ending level at full-time. The hosts got the better of these opponents earlier in the season, beating them 3-4 in a dramatic game at the Swansea.com stadium.
