1st Prediction For Carlisle United vs Milton Keynes Dons: Milton Keynes Dons to win 7/4

Ben Gladwin has managed to improve the performances of Milton Keynes Dons in their last few games and extract some of the raw quality present amongst the squad. Despite this, the bookmakers are offering relatively favourable odds on predicting the Dons to emerge victorious on Tuesday night. In what has been a very disappointing season for the club, MK Dons have picked up 45 points from 37 league games as they currently sit in 18th place in the fourth tier. Even though the Dons are having a horrible season by their standards, they still have a whopping 15 points more than Carlisle, who sit rock bottom of League Two with a mere 30 points from their 37 league games. Although Mark Hughes’ men have been in relatively good form of late as they picked up a win at Brunton Park in their last game, the Blues have the worst home record in the fourth tier, winning just three of their 19 games on home turf.

2nd Prediction For Carlisle United vs Milton Keynes Dons: Milton Keynes Dons to win and both teams to score 9/2

Those looking for a riskier, but potentially more fruitful prediction should consider predicting Milton Keynes Dons to win and both teams to score. The Dons’ defence has been extremely leaky this season as they have kept just five clean sheets in the league, the second worst record of any League Two team. This record has not got much better under Ben Gladwin as they have conceded six times in the four games which he has taken charge of. Their underlying defensive numbers are not much better as they have conceded the seventh-highest xG in League Two. As well as this, Carlisle have been in relatively good goalscoring form recently. The Blues have only failed to find the back of the net once in their last five games and they created a whopping 2.47 xG in their last game against Bromley. This shows that Carlisle have a good chance of getting on the scoresheet against MK Dons, even if they do not have enough quality to secure a victory.

3rd Prediction For Carlisle United vs Milton Keynes Dons: Under 2.5 goals 33/50

A safer prediction that also does not depend on a specific team winning the match would be predicting under 2.5 goals. MK Dons have not been in the best goalscoring form of late as they have managed to score just three times in their last five games. Over their last five games in all competitions, there have been 10 goals (both for and against) which equates to an average of 2 goals per game. Additionally, although they have been better in front of goal lately, Carlisle are still the lowest goalscorers in League Two and have missed the eighth-most big chances of any team in the fourth tier. Blues fans have also seen a total of 10 goals scored and conceded in their last five games, meaning it is unlikely that there will be three or more goals on Tuesday night.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Ben Gladwin’s MK Dons side currently occupy 18th place in League Two after what has been a very disappointing season for fans and players alike. The Dons have won two of their four games under Gladwin, but they are still in 19th place in the form guide. The 32-year-old will be hoping that his side can emerge victorious against a team who have been slightly cut adrift at the bottom of the league and he may even harbour hopes of becoming the Dons’ manager on a permanent basis in the coming weeks. However, the rest of this campaign will largely be a write-off for the former Championship side.

Mark Hughes, an experienced Premier League manager, knew he was taking on a mammoth task when he accepted the vacancy at Carlisle United. He has been able to get his players performing at a higher level in recent weeks as the Blues have won two and drawn one of their last five league games to sit in 14th place in the form table, but they still sit in last place overall and are seven points off safety. He will see Tuesday’s game against a team who are very much in transition as a must-win if the Blues want to have any realistic chance of avoiding the drop.

The two teams last met on the third match week of the season as MK Dons thumped Carlisle, winning three-nil. But, this result is largely irrelevant as both teams have changed their manager multiple times since that date.
