First Prediction For Chesterfield vs Harrogate Town: Match Result – Chesterfield – 53/100

Chesterfield require three points this weekend to keep their slight hopes of a top seven finish in their sights. Those aspirations have returned on the back of three straight wins, following a difficult run which saw them lose four games in a row across the past five weeks. A positive home result should be expected on Saturday afternoon, given the Spireites have lost just three times at home all campaign. Three wins in their last four firmly establish themselves as the favourites for this contest, playing a side who have only won three times away from home all season. With five away reverses in their last six, Harrogate are expected to lose another away encounter to keep Chesterfield’s slight chances of a Play-Off place alive.

Second Prediction For Chesterfield vs Harrogate Town: Over 2.5 Goals – 21/20

In the Spireites last three wins, they have netted at least twice, while conceding once in two of them games. Across the whole season, only league leaders Walsall have scored more times than their 58, although they are more prolific on their travels. But their defensive record is what is keep them out of the top seven, shipping 44 goals. Harrogate have only conceded four more times, but their goalscoring is the reason they have such a poor away record. Harrogate have scored thirteen times all season away from North Yorkshire, though they may net on Saturday, the scoreline is likely to be against them.

Third Prediction For Chesterfield vs Harrogate Town: Half-Time Result – Chesterfield – 23/20

Chesterfield are the third best performing side in the opening half of games in League Two this campaign, sitting six points better off in the automatic promotion spots. While they have only led once more at half time compared with their full time result, it is the defeats column that makes for better reading, standing at four fewer. Harrogate remain on 40 points and have lost the same number of games, but their wins and draws column are switched. They also rise a place to 20th, but as they face one of the top sides in the opening halves of games on Saturday, the expectation is that the Spireites will be leading at the interval.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Chesterfield have revived their hopes of a spot in the top seven following three consecutive victories. Last Saturday saw them record one of their biggest wins of the season against local rivals Notts County, and continue their strong record against the best that League Two has to offer. That would have them in good stead for the Play-Offs if they get there. All the goals at the weekend came in the final twenty minutes, with Aribim Pepple giving the Spireites the lead. Will Jarvis levelled, but Tom Naylor stole the points with two minutes remaining to send the sell-out away support into jubilation.

The Derbyshire side made the most of their midweek game in hand to thrash Salford 4-0, making the most of the Ammies early red card. Their winning run began with a narrow victory over Newport, ending a run of four consecutive losses since they hammered Doncaster early in February. Losing to Walsall was hardly a surprise, despite the league leaders slump in form, but reverses against Swindon, Crewe and Colchester cooled any talks of a top seven finish. It is likely that Paul Cook’s side will not compete in the end of season competition, but they are only seven points adrift of seventh place Colchester, crucially with a game in hand.

Harrogate have had their own resurgence in form to end any fears of relegation back to the National League. Though their mini-three game unbeaten streak was ended last time out at Newport, a win over Carlisle should see Simon Weaver’s side safe in the fourth tier for another year. Accrington were another side threatened with the drop who Harrogate narrowly defeated at the start of March, before taking a pivotal point at Port Vale.

After winning the reverse encounter back in November, Harrogate lost their next six games in a row before drawing at Fleetwood to end 2024. The winless run extended to eight at Salford, before putting an end to the rut by defeating Barrow. That meant that an FA Cup tie and first competitive meeting against Leeds came at a good time, adding another victory against Cheltenham before failing to win five games in succession.

Six of Chesterfield’s final ten games are at home, including two double-headers. A long trip to Barrow is up next, before facing two of the bottom three in Carlisle and Tranmere. Easter will play a crucial part in their battle for a Play-Off place, if their hopes are still alive by that point. London is calling for a visit to AFC Wimbledon, before Bradford make the short journey from Yorkshire to Derbyshire. After hosting another relegation-threatened outfit Morecambe, the Spireites travel to Lancashire for their season-finale at the Shrimps local rivals Accrington.

Harrogate have all-but confirmed their spot in League Two next season, but will be looking for a few more points to make sure of that. The Sulphurites host Gillingham to end March, before Tranmere are the visitors to North Yorkshire three days later. They will then have some input in the promotion race with games against AFC Wimbledon, potential Play-Off chasers Grimsby and current leaders Walsall on Good Friday. Fleetwood and Notts County then visit the Exercise Stadium, before a final trip to Morecambe at the start of May.

During the last international break, Chesterfield met Harrogate for the first time in the EFL. The Sulphurites edged that encounter, continuing their unbeaten run against the Derbyshire outfit. After drawing the first game in 2018, Harrogate are on a four game winning streak against their opponents on Saturday, which includes a seven-goal thriller just before lockdown.
