Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Gateshead welcome Braintree Town in desperate need of all three points to keep their playoff push on track.

The Heed are without a win in five National League matches and have lost the last three on the bounce.

Saturday produced a disappointing result at home to relegation threatened Maidenhead United and that followed a 3-1 defeat to another bottom half side Aldershot Town.

Perhaps the most damaging defeat was the 1-0 loss to fellow playoff chasers Rochdale who sit four points behind the Heed with three games in hand.

Gateshead occupy 6th place with 60 points from 37 matches this season, winning 17 of those.

Luke Hannant leads the scoring charts with 13 league goals and is joined on double figures by Owen Oseni who has ten.

Hannant also leads the assists chart with eight and is followed by Regan Booty on five.

The Heed score 1.8 goals on average per game and have conceded 1.5 per match, keeping nine clean sheets.

Braintree Town make the journey north on the back of a disappointing loss at home to Boston United on Saturday.
Prior to defeat to the Pilgrims, the Iron had enjoyed a mini unbeaten run of four National League games and had won three in six.One of those victories came in a vital relegation clash with AFC Fylde ten days ago. The 2-0 win thanks to goals from Jermaine Francis and Kyrell Lisbie has helped to create a six point gap between the two teams and put a little bit of breathing space between themselves and the drop zone. The Iron are 17th in the National League table having collected 42 points from 37 matches, winning 11 of those.Kyrell Lisbie is the top scorer with ten National League goals to his name while Grenada international Jermaine Francis has scored on six occasions.Chay Cooper, George Langston and John Akinde have all contributed four assists each.Braintree score 1.2 goals per game on average and concede 1.5, keeping 11 clean sheets. The last 15 meetings between the sides have seen Braintree come out on top on seven occasions, with Gateshead winning three times. The season’s previous meeting was an action packed affair that saw four goals and a sending off as the sides shared the points.

Jermaine Francis gave Braintree the lead inside five minutes only for Gateshead to be back level two minutes later thanks to Owen Oseni.

The Iron again took the lead on 14 minutes thanks to Louie Annesley. The lead did not last long once again and Joe Grayson completed the scoring in the 19th minute. Chat Cooper was sent off for the home side on the hour.

The last time Gateshead claimed all three points came in the 2016-17 season thanks to a 4-1 win at Braintree.

Reece Stych helped himself to two while Patrick McLaughlin and Wes York completed the scoring. The ever reliable Michael Cheek netted Braintree’s consolation.

Braintree would eventually be relegated to the National League South at the end of that season.
