Michael Flynn Makes Bradford City Prediction

Cheltenham Town manager Michael Flynn is convinced that Bradford City will be playing in League One next season after watching his side lose 3-0 at Valley Parade last night.

The Bantams have been in a phenomenal run of form since the turn of the year. They sat ninth in the League Two table on New Year’s Day, 17 points behind leaders Walsall. Since then, they’ve lost just once to surge up the table and last night’s dominant victory over Cheltenham saw them move to within two points of the Saddlers.

Perhaps more importantly, Bradford look to have taken a stranglehold of the automatic promotion places. They moved up to second with a 1-0 win over Bromley at the end of last month and now sit eight points ahead of fourth-placed Notts County.

Flynn Convinced Bradford Will Go Up

Michael Flynn, who represented Bradford as a player, was powerless on the touchline as Bradford relentlessly hammered the Cheltenham box. They had an incredible 25 shots on the way to their 3-0 victory, with the George Lapslie grabbing a brace and Michael Mellon hitting the third.

Speaking after the game, the 44-year-old had his say on his former club’s promotion hopes:

“I do think they’ll go up and I think Walsall will go up as well. You have just seen Notts County, Wimbledon, Crewe and Doncaster have all lost.

“I know people will say about Walsall, but they have got a point away from home and Carlisle is not an easy place to go, so I am not here to predict the league and I wish I was talking about us first or second, but I do hope the teams go up.”

Continuing, he hailed Graham Alexander side’s ‘phenomenal’ run:

“I think they have just broken a club record of 10 home wins in a row, which is phenomenal.

“They just looked a bit sharper and their game plan worked a lot better than ours.

“We’ve had an off night and they have had a good night, which they’ve had many of here recently. We have been beaten by a team chasing the title.”

Writer’s View

There will be many that will feel that Bradford are the favourites to win the League Two title after their recent form. Their march up the table has been nothing short of sensational over the past couple of months. This has coincided with a huge drop off from Walsall, who looked guaranteed to win the division at one point, setting up an intriguing end to the campaign.
