  • First Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Match Result – Coventry City – 1/2
  • Second Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Under 2.5 Goals – 9/10
  • Third Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20

First Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Match Result – Coventry City – 1/2

Coventry are overwhelming favourites for this game on Saturday lunchtime, and rightly so, given their recent form. Seven wins from eight have propelled them from second-tier strugglers into the Play-Offs, sitting fifth after their latest victory took them into the top six. Since Frank Lampard took over at the end of November, only the current top two have taken more points, winning eleven of their past eighteen games. No side have won more games since the turn of the year. That compares to Stoke, who have won just twice in 2025. Their goalless draw on Saturday made it three games without a win, keeping them in danger of relegation to League One. The gap above the bottom three stands at five points, one they would desperately like to extend, but that appears a tall order this weekend.

Second Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Under 2.5 Goals – 9/10

Only three sides have scored more home goals than Coventry’s 28 goal this term, though their record at the CBS Arena is only the tenth-best in the division. That is because they have shipped twenty at the other end, though in recent times, the Sky Blues form has improved. The Potters meanwhile are the third-lowest scorers in the Championship on the road, ranking towards the bottom across all venues this term too. But their defensive record is average compared with the rest of the division, so a low-scoring can be expected at the weekend, although Coventry will expect to continue their winning run while scoring a couple of goals.

Third Prediction For Coventry City vs Stoke City: Both Teams To Score – No – 17/20

From Coventry’s viewpoint, they should expect to find the net. In their thirteen games in 2025, they have failed to find the net just once, in the reverse against Leeds last month. Only three times in the West Midlands this campaign have they failed to find the back of the net, including all cup games. Stoke were scoreless against Watford in their last encounter, the fourth time this has been the case in 2025, with all of them being goalless draws. Goals have been at a premium in recent encounters between the two sides, seeing just two in the past three, while each of the last five have seen one team fail to score. It would be no surprise if that run continued at the weekend, but it would be a huge shock if the Sky Blues didn’t net.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

As has been picked up by the mainstream media in the past week, Coventry City had a flying February. The Sky Blues won four of their five Championship encounters, losing just once against table-topping Leeds United. They continued that run into this month, winning at Oxford, which was their fourth successive single-goal victory. Two of those wins, over Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday, not only came against fellow Play-Off chasers, but also saw Frank Lampard’s side find an injury-time winner.

At the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, the U’s twice fought from a goal down before Tatsuhiro Sakamoto netted the winner twenty minutes from time, after they had been denied from the spot moments earlier. 2025 actually didn’t get off to the best start, taking one point from their first two games at Cardiff and Norwich before conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in their FA Cup Third Round tie against Sheffield Wednesday. But they were victorious on penalties, spurring them to win each of their next three second-tier outings against Bristol City, Blackburn and Watford, again crucially against sides in the packed race for a top-six spot.

Stoke, meanwhile, have not enjoyed the sort of upturn in form that their weekend opponents have experienced, though ex-Coventry gaffer Mark Robins only arrived at the start of the year. He had just been announce Potters gaffer, while Ryan Shawcross took charge of his final game in a respectable goalless draw against Burnley on New Year’s Day. That scoreline was replicated days later with Robins in the dugout against Plymouth Argyle, before they were successful in the FA Cup at Sunderland.

He had to wait a little longer for a Championship win though, drawing two out of their three remaining January games against West Brom and Stoke, losing away at Portsmouth. But the first victory was a crucial one, battling back from a goal deficit at Hull City to start February with three points, before they crashed out of the FA Cup on penalties following a thrilling six-goal draw. But their recent form has again been disappointing, losing three of their last five. There was a single win in that period, beating Swansea, but they have shipped nine in losses to Bristol City, Norwich and Middlesbrough.

There are only 62 miles between the sides from the West Midlands and Staffordshire, but the head-to-head record cannot find such a way to separate the two. They have won 31 games each, while eleven games have ended level since their first meeting 114 years ago. Stoke won 9-1 four years after that first game, during WW1, but goals have dried up in recent years. Only one was needed to separate the two back on the opening day this season as super sub Lewis Baker scored just two minutes after entering the action.
