Our Three Predictions For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town:

  • First Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Match Result – Draw – 2/1
  • Second Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Under 2.5 Goals – 1/2
  • Third Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Both Teams To Score – No – 18/25

First Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Match Result – Draw – 2/1

Wigan have drawn each of their last two games, with nine of their 31 league games ending level this term. A third of that total of stalemates have come this month, having only drawn one game in the three months before. The Terriers will be hoping for three points after they were shocked by lowly Peterborough, who incidentally have opposing statistics in both departments to Wigan. But only a single goal was needed to beat Huddersfield at the weekend. They were three unbeaten, coming on the back of their worst run since losing four successive games back in September. Their sixteen game run without a loss came crashing to the ground by losing three games in a row earlier this year. Outside of those spells, the Terriers have lost just twice, but won’t be best pleased with a point on Tuesday evening.

Second Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Under 2.5 Goals – 1/2

Huddersfield will be thankful to be on their travels again, having passed more than 450 minutes without a goal in West Yorkshire. Only Wycombe have scored more times away from home than Michael Duff’s outfit, managing 26 in fifteen games. Their points tally is also the fourth best on the road, thanks to conceding the third fewest amount of goals in the third tier (14). Only five of the top seven though have a better defensive record than Wigan, priding themselves on being tough to beat, or at least tough to get past. Shaun Maloney’s side are one of just three teams in the division to average less than a goal a game though, sitting bottom of the goalscoring metric across the entirety of League One. In their fifteen home games, only 30 goals have gone in at either end at The Brick Community Stadium, so a tally of two goals should be the maximum seen on Tuesday evening.

Third Prediction For Wigan Athletic vs Huddersfield Town: Both Teams To Score – No – 18/25

The Terriers may have not netted at the weekend, but in four of the past five prior to that they were on the scoresheet. That’s part of a longer run of just six games across their last 23 League One outings where they have failed to find the back of the net, and only once has that been in back-to-back outings. The Terriers should net on Tuesday night then, but the same cannot be said for Wigan. Just three sides in the whole of the EFL have found the net on fewer occasions than the Latics, so a low scoring encounter should definitely be anticipated, and likely one where Wigan don’t score.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

The Terriers’ inconsistent form continued on Saturday as they suffered a shock home defeat against Peterborough United. Automatic promotion ambitions had been reignited with consecutive away wins at Shrewsbury and Barnsley, but the loss against Posh means that Huddersfield are once again looking over their shoulder. That gap between themselves and seventh-place Charlton is down to just two points, while a nine-point gap to Wycombe in second makes a top-two finish seem improbable now.

This calendar year has had a bitterly disappointing start despite the forward acquisitions in January. Michael Duff’s side made it sixteen games unbeaten when they drew at Blackpool, rescuing a point after being two down at the interval. They had also recorded their best result of the campaign after defeating Wycombe eleven days earlier, but consecutive losses in West Yorkshire to Bolton and Birmingham brought that run to an end. They lost for a third time in a row at Northampton, before the winless run continued with a goalless draw against Reading.

The Latics held Wycombe to a stalemate at the weekend, but results on Saturday have reduced their gap above the the relegation places to just four points. Despite that positive result, Wigan are now winless in six games and desperately need three points to move clear of the bottom four. A mini-run of two wins in three against Stevenage and Bristol Rovers had boosted morale in the opening month of 2025. But a loss to a relegation rivals Peterborough started the current run without a win.

There have been three stalemates in that period, coming against Lincoln and Crawley before the one in Buckinghamshire, while the other league encounter during this spell was a two nil defeat against Huddersfield’s promotion rivals Stockport. Both goals that day came in the final eleven minutes, while a week earlier they had briefly levelled in the FA Cup against Premier League Fulham before falling to a narrow loss.

This encounter was originally scheduled for New Year’s Day, but fell foul to the weather with localised flooding in the North-west causing the game to be called off. As part of the unbeaten run the Terriers had been on, Ollie Turton scored the only goal in this game in December. That ended a three game losing run for the West Yorkshire side in this fixture, but they hold the superior head-to-head record with fifteen wins to the Latics twelve.
