Our 3 Predictions For Port Vale vs Salford City
- 1st Prediction: Port Vale to win 21/20
- 2nd Prediction: Under 1.5 goals 7/4
- 3rd Prediction: Lorent Tolaj to score at any time 12/5
1st Prediction For Port Vale vs Salford City: Port Vale to win 21/20
Port Vale head into Saturday’s game as the bookmakers favourites and this is very much deserved. The Valiants currently sit in sixth place in League Two having accumulated 52 points in 30 games. Whilst Salford City are not far behind them in eighth place, their recent form has been much worse than Port Vale’s. The away side have won just one of their last five league games, drawing three times and losing once, which puts them in a relatively disappointing 13th place in the form guide. By contrast, the home side have won three of their last five league games and are unbeaten in the league in 2025. Although Port Vale do not have a great record at Vale Park this season, Darren Moore will be expecting his team to use their momentum to beat a Salford side who have won just once since the fifth of January.
2nd Prediction For Port Vale vs Salford City: Under 1.5 goals 7/4
Although both teams seem to have found a goalscoring touch recently, their success over the course of the season has largely been based around a solid defence. If predictors are willing to overlook current form and predict less than 1.5 goals, it could potentially be very fruitful. Port Vale and Salford City sit in 14th and 15th places respectively for goals scored per match with Salford scoring 1.2 times per game and Port Vale 1.3 times per game on average. Salford also do not create many chances, having just the 16th-highest xG in the fourth tier. However, where both teams excel is in defence. Salford have the third best record in terms of goals conceded per game whilst Port Vale’s record is also very good as they sit seventh on the same list. Additionally, Darren Moore’s men have conceded the eighth-least xG of any team in League Two and Salford goalkeeper Matthew Young has a better save percentage than any other League Two goalkeeper, although he has not been in the starting eleven recently.
3rd Prediction For Port Vale vs Salford City: Lorent Tolaj to score at any time 12/5
If there is one player who will be able to unlock the rock solid Salford defence on Saturday, it is Lorent Tolaj. The 23-year-old former Salford loanee joined the Valiant this summer from Aldershot Town where he scored a staggering 25 goals in 51 games. The former Brighton and Hove Albion academy prospect has adapted seamlessly to EFL football this season, scoring six times and providing six assists in 22 league games. This shows that Tolaj is not only an excellent finisher, but also a very adept player technically. He is able to drift into deeper and wider positions which allows him to drag central defenders into places that they do not want to be before using his technique and physical power in order to bypass them. The Swiss has been in incredible form since the turn of the year, picking up four goals and two assists in eight appearances.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head
Port Vale come into Saturday’s game sitting in sixth place in League Two. They are unbeaten in the league in 2025 which makes them one of the most in-form teams in the entire English Football League. As is the tight nature of the fourth division, Darren Moore’s team sit just three points outside of the automatic promotion spaces but are also only four points away from dropping out of the playoffs entirely. He will expect his side to continue their recent good form against a Salford City team who have been struggling of late.
Despite their recent poor form, Karl Robinson’s side have won just once since their eight-nil thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup, they still sit in eighth place in the league and are the team who could push Port Vale out of the playoffs if a couple of results go in their favour. Robinson will be hoping for a marked improvement in his teams’ performance levels so that they can secure just their fifth league win on their travels this season.
Both encounters between Salford and Port Vale have ended in two-nil victories for Darren Moore’s team, though one game was in the Vertu Trophy. The Valiants were deserving winners in the league encounter earlier in the season as a Ben Garrity brace secured them a comfortable win.
