Forest Green Secure Move For Championship Defender

Hull City have confirmed that left-back Brandon Fleming will spend the rest of the 2024/25 season on loan at Forest Green Rovers.

The 25-year-old, who has been with Hull since his youth days, is seeking more game time after a first-half-of-the-season loan spell at Doncaster Rovers.

Fleming, who has made 45 first-team appearances for Hull, has struggled to establish himself as a regular fixture in the side. After spending the first half of this campaign under his former Tigers boss Grant McCann at Doncaster, he will now test himself in the National League with Forest Green.

Hull Confirm Loan Move

Hull City confirmed Fleming’s move in an official club statement:

“Left-back Brandon Fleming has joined National League side Forest Green Rovers on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. Making 45 appearances for his hometown club since graduating from the club’s academy, the full-back also had previous loan spells at Gainsborough Trinity, Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United and Shrewsbury Town.”

Despite showing promise early in his Hull career, Fleming has found it difficult to cement a regular starting spot. His time at Doncaster saw him make 20 appearances, but with his opportunities at Hull limited, another temporary move became necessary.

Forest Green Rovers Chasing Promotion

Fleming now joins a Forest Green Rovers side pushing for promotion from the National League. Steve Cotterill’s team currently sit second in the table, just two points behind Barnet with a game in hand.

Fleming will be hoping to make an immediate impact and could make his debut as early as tomorrow when Forest Green take on Braintree Town.

Another Loan Departure for Hull

Alongside Fleming’s move, Hull have also confirmed that young forward Tyrell Sellars-Fleming has joined Gateshead on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

With Hull continuing to manage their squad depth, these loan moves will provide both players with crucial minutes as they look to develop further.

Writer’s View

Brandon Fleming’s move to Forest Green represents another chance for him to gain regular football and prove himself. His spell at Doncaster offered consistent game time, and now, dropping into the National League, he’ll be expected to play a key role in Forest Green’s promotion push.

For Hull City, it’s clear that opportunities for Fleming are limited, and this move might be the beginning of an eventual permanent exit. If he can impress in the National League, he may yet earn himself another shot at EFL football. Either way, this is a crucial period in his career, and how he performs at Forest Green could determine his future beyond this season.
