Port Vale are unbeaten in six league games and have only lost twice at home in League Two so far this season.
Last time out, Vale needed a late Lorent Tolaj goal to rescue a point in a topsy turvy game against Swindon Town. The Swiss forward scored with just three minutes left on the clock to level the score at 3-3 after he twice been behind and twice been in front.
Darren Moore’s side have won three of their last four league games prior to the draw at The Nigel Eady County Ground, including an impressive victory at fellow promotion challengers Doncaster Rovers.
The Valiants currently sit sixth in League Two just three points adrift of the automatic promotion spots after amassing 49 points from 29 games. On average, Vale have scored 1.3 goals per game and conceded 1.1 with top scorer Jayden Stockley having seven goals to his name. Saturday’s hero Lorent Tolaj has chipped in with six goals and five assists.
Notts County make the trip to Staffordshire in possession of the league’s best away record, having taken 26 points from 15 matches on the road. The Magpies have won five of their last six League Two outings, including the last three in a row. Saturday saw them overcome relegation threatened Morecambe by two goals to nil thanks to goals from Charlie Whitaker and Alassana Jatta.
That followed victories against Gillingham and the bottom side Carlisle United. County’s defeat came at home to Walsall on New Year’s Day and their last defeat away from Meadow Lane was in the middle of December at Salford City.
