First Prediction For Burnley vs Oxford United: Match Result – Draw – 16/5
If you’re looking for a draw in the Championship this season, then this part of East Lancashire is the place to go. No side has drawn more games than the Clarets eight this campaign, but with eight wins they are unbeaten in their fourteen home encounters. Four of their past five games at home have ended level, further demonstrating the resilience of Scott Parker’s side, which has frustrated some supporters due to their lack of goals at the other end. Oxford meanwhile have drawn five games on their travels this term, winning just a single game all season. Their record away from home has improved though since Rowett took over, drawing all three of their away games under his management. All the statistics are pointing towards this game ending a draw, and a goalless one at that.
Second Prediction For Burnley vs Oxford United: Under 1.5 Goals – 19/100
The records kept tumbling for Scott Parker’s Burnley side following their weekend stalemate against Portsmouth. James Trafford has the chance to hold the outright record for most clean sheets in a Clarets’ season on Tuesday evening, after keeping a record-equalling twentieth of the campaign at Fratton Park. Goalless draw have been a common theme this this term for the Clarets, with three of their past four games have ended goalless. Goals have been more free-flowing for Oxford, but they were involved in a stalemate in their last outing at Stoke at the end of January. Expect another low scoring game under the lights, perhaps the same scoreline as the reverse game back in September that ended goalless.
Third Prediction For Burnley vs Oxford United: Both Teams To Score – No – 11/25
Trafford set another record on Saturday, stretching his run without conceding to 734 minutes. That beat the run set by Jimmy Strong back in the 1940s, where he went 680 minutes without conceding a goal. No side in the second tier have conceded less times at home (4) than Burnley, but they have also scored the fewest goals (15). Oxford away from home have only scored ten times themselves in fourteen games, which is the second fewest in the division. All the signs point towards at least one of the sides not finding the net in midweek, if not both teams.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
You have to go back to the 3rd of November for the last time Burnley lost a game, falling to a defeat at Millwall. But since then, they have gone eighteen games in all competitions without ending a game pointless. Five of their last seven league games though have ended goalless, with League One Reading the only side to score against the club in their last nine outings in the FA Cup. In the Championship, Kwadwo Baah was the last player to net against the Burnley defence, scoring for Watford prior to Christmas.
James Trafford has now kept eight consecutive clean sheets, with their defensive record the envy of the second tier. While there is frustration about their record at the other end, there’s no doubting Scott Parker has turned the Clarets into a defensive machine. Last Monday, Burnley played out a goalless draw against Leeds United in a game with few chances. But the Wednesday prior, they put in their best attacking performance to date this campaign when hitting Plymouth for five, all of which came in the opening 45 minutes.
Gary Rowett has led an exceptional turnaround at Oxford United since they controversially dismissed Des Buckingham. Quite remarkably, no side have taken more points than the U’s since his first game in charge against Cardiff on Boxing Day, taking nineteen from nine outings. Unbeaten in that time, he had the dream start by winning all three games over the festive period. They have since drawn four of their past six games, winning home encounters against Luton and Blackburn.
The U’s were in real trouble when Rowett took over, but now sit sixteenth in the standings, ten points clear of the bottom three. They are now closer to the Play-Off places, sitting seven points adrift of the top six in their first season at this level for a quarter of a century. Perhaps though they have reason to be disappointed with their recent draw against Bristol City, given they faced a side with ten men for over an hour, and the Robins eventually finished the game with nine players but still held out to take a point.
Burnley will get the chance to test themselves against Premier League opposition next weekend, when they travel to Southampton in the FA Cup 4th Round. Oxford are set for a free weekend as a result of Rowett’s only defeat in charge so far, losing to Exeter in the 3rd Round of the cup. They go to Derby before hosting Portsmouth, with the U’s favourites to win both encounters.
The sides have shared ten wins equally across history, but recent form tells a completely different story. Burnley have only lost two of their past fourteen league games, but prior to this campaign they hadn’t met since the year 2000.
