Our Three Predictions For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United:
- First Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Match Result – Birmingham City – 1/2
- Second Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Birmingham City Over 2.5 Goals – 23/10
- Third Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Half-Time Result – Birmingham City – 11/10
First Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Match Result – Birmingham City – 1/2
These aren’t great odds for a Birmingham win, but it’s clear why! The Blues are unbeaten at home this campaign, winning nine of their twelve league games at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park. They hold the second best home record, and that is only because they have played four home games fewer than Wrexham, and after the Red Dragons lost last night, Birmingham are the only side yet to lose on home soil in League One this season. Rotherham have a well documented dismal time on their travels, winning for the first time in 41 games on the road back in October. A win at Lincoln on New Year’s Day was the only other away success for Evans’ side away from home, making it two wins in 49 away league encounters. A third win in 50 games looks highly unlikely on Saturday with Birmingham clear favourities for this one.
Second Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Birmingham City Over 2.5 Goals – 23/10
While only scoring twenty times at home this term, Birmingham’s defensive stats of just six goals conceded is by some way the best record in the third tier. Added to the fact they have won their last five games in a row in the Second City, all without conceding, then they seem a certainty to take the points. They feel like they are due a big home victory, and while the Blues have been comfortable in many of their wins this campaign, a real thrashing has evaded them thus far. Coupled with Rotherham’s woeful away record, and only scoring nine goals themselves away from South Yorkshire, then they look set for a long afternoon. Burton in the relegation zone scored four last time out against Rotherham, and there’s no reason why Birmingham can’t do the same.
Third Prediction For Birmingham City vs Rotherham United: Half-Time Result – Birmingham City – 11/10
The Blues have an incredibly strong record in the first half of games. No side in the third tier have led in more games, trailed fewer and conceded less than Birmingham in the opening 45 minutes. They also have the best PPG record, standing at 47 points by the interval. Rotherham meanwhile are a better side in the second half of games, with a bottom six record in the other half of encounters. The Millers have led just five of their 27 league games this term at the halfway stage, so it feels that only one side will be in the ascendancy by 15:50 on Saturday afternoon.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Birmingham City, to the surprise of virtually nobody, are flying in League One this season. The Blues are well on their way to return to the Championship, opening up an eight point gap to third place Wrexham following the midweek results. An away victory over fellow challengers Huddersfield leaves the Terriers twelves points adrift of the side from the Second City.
Chris Davies’ side are on a sixteen match unbeaten run that shows no signs of slowing at current. Seven wins from eight in all competitions in December included progress in both the FA Cup and EFL Trophy, with attention turning to both them competitions following their league encounter this afternoon. Birmingham have twice been held away from home this month, but victories over Wigan and Exeter have seen their lead extend at the top of the table.
Rotherham meanwhile continued their revival in form by beating Cambridge in midweek, after their progress was checked last Saturday with a 4-2 away defeat to Burton Albion. The Millers were six unbeaten in all competitions prior to that, with consecutive December losses the only other times they have been beaten in the past two months.
Steve Evans’ outfit could have dropped into the bottom four if they had lost to Lincoln early in December, but they are now thirteen points clear of the drop zone. Up to fourteenth in the standings, Rotherham may have their eyes set on a late Play-Off push given there is now only a seven point gap separating the Millers from sixth place Leyton Orient, looking to emulate Leyton Orient who have risen from 21st position earlier in the season.
These two sides may yet meet again in the Vertu Trophy. The Blues progressed at Swindon to set up another away tie at Stevenage next Tuesday, while Rotherham also took down a League Two side in Chesterfield on penalties, and face fellow Yorkshire outfit Bradford for a place in the Semi-Finals.
They have already met earlier this campaign, with Iwata and Stansfield on target inside the opening quarter of the game to seal a relatively easy three points for the away side. That is in keeping with the meetings over history, with the Blues winning three times as many encounters as Rotherham have, only losing two of the last 22 meetings.
