Our Three Predictions For Leyton Orient vs Reading
- First Prediction: Leyton Orient To Win – 16/25
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – No – 49/50
- Third Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals – 91/100
First Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Reading – Leyton Orient To Win – 16/25
Taking the last six games into account, Leyton Orient are currently the team to beat in League One. Last weekend’s 0-0 with Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium halted a run of five successive wins, although they are now unbeaten in nine league outings. It’s worth noting that Richie Wellens’ side were in the relegation zone just two months ago. Since then, they have surged up the table and sit in eighth, three points off the play-offs. A win tomorrow would see them move above Reading on goal difference.
Reading started slowly under Noel Hunt but recovered to pick up three successive wins over the festive period. However, they head into this game having lost their last two in all competitions, the latest defeat coming at the Select Car Leasing Stadium against Stockport County. The last place they will want to visit to recover their form is Brisbane Road and another loss could be on the cards.
Second Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Reading – Both Teams To Score – No – 49/50
Orient’s defensive record is one of the best in the division. Only Birmingham City, Wrexham and Huddersfield Town have conceded less, and they have kept eight clean sheets in their last nine league games. The solitary blip on their record was a 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day, the only two goals they have conceded during this run. They are currently averaging 0.88 goals conceded per game. The O’s have also been strong at home, with only Burton Albion leaving the capital with a clean sheet since the beginning of December.
Reading have failed to score in two of their last three games on the road, drawing 0-0 with Charlton Athletic and losing 2-0 to Lincoln City. Although still challenging for a place in the top six, they appear to still be adjusting to life under Hunt and coming up against one of the best defences in League One will be a tough task.
Third Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Reading – Under 2.5 Goals – 91/100
This prediction follows the same reasoning as above. Leyton Orient continue to defy the odds and they have shown glimpses that they can blow teams away. Their nine game unbeaten run has included 3-0 wins over Bristol Rovers and Crawley Town and a 4-0 victory over Barnsley. However, three of their last four games have produced under three goals.
Reading are a team who do know where the net is, suggesting Orient may need to be at their best to secure the three points. The Royals have been poor away from home though, with three of their last four away games producing two goals or less. The previous meeting between the pair earlier this season also produced a solitary goal, where Orient secured a 1-0 win at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Leyton Orient are a team who appear to have the bit between their teeth in recent weeks. They’ve surged up the table at a phenomenal rate since the beginning of November, pulling themselves out of a relegation battle to join the promotion race. Not only that, they also beat Championship outfit Derby County in the FA Cup third round to set up a clash with Premier League champions Manchester City next month. Their last nine League One games have seen them pick up seven wins and two draws, keeping eight clean sheets and conceding just twice. A run of five successive wins did come to an end last weekend though when they drew 0-0 with Peterborough United.
Reading are a bit of an unknown entity since Noel Hunt replaced Ruben Selles in early December. The 42-year-old picked up just one point in his first three games but followed that with three wins over the festive period. They have since drawn with Charlton Athletic and lost to Stockport County, whilst also crashing out of the FA Cup at the hands of Championship title contenders Burnley.
Orient won the reverse clash at the Select Car Leasing Stadium 1-0 in September. The O’s also won the last clash at Brisbane Road when they emerged with a 2-1 victory last season. It’s been over 25 years since Reading have defeated the Londoners, picking up a 1-0 win in the Auto Windscreens Trophy in 1999.
