1st Prediction For Barrow v Grimsby Town: Over 1.5 Goals – 4/11

The Mariners are averaging 1.4 goals per game this season and have scored 17 in 13 away fixtures so far. Grimsby have managed nine goals in their previous five games. Barrow don’t score many, just 23 this season in League Two, and have only scored three in their previous five outings.

2nd Prediction For Barrow v Grimsby Town: Match Result – Draw – 11/5

Neither side go into this game in great form, the hosts having gone five games without a win and Grimsby looking for their first success in three matches. Barrow’s home form is mid table form as they have won five, drawn four and lost three of their 12 matches on home soil. Grimsby’s away form has been good, winning six of 13 away days so far this season. With the form they are both in, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these sides cancel each other out.

3rd Prediction For Barrow v Grimsby Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 17/20

Barrow may have gone two games without scoring but Grimsby have only stopped their opponents scoring once in their seven games and have only kept one clean sheet in their last 18 league matches. The Mariners have found the net themselves on nine occasions in their last five matches.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Andy Whing takes charge of Barrow for the very first time on Saturday having taken over earlier this week and will be looking to arrest a terrible run of one win in 15 league matches and an alarming drop down the table. Last time out, relegation battling Swindon Town were the victors at the Nigel Eady County Ground thanks to goals from Nnamdi Ofoborh and Harry Smith in what proved to be Stephen Clemence’s final game in charge. That followed a home defeat to fellow strugglers Harrogate Town, going down 2-0 thanks to jack Muldoon and Josh March.

For Barrow’s last win, you have to go back to the 21st December when they claimed all three points at home to Fleetwood Town thanks to Emile Acquah and Theo Vassell. The Bluebirds find themselves in 18th place in League Two with 28 points from their 25 matches having won seven and lost 11 so far this season. Whing’s side have scored less than one goal per match this season but have been relatively tight at the back conceding just 28. Top scorer Emile Acquah has scored four times and Ben Jackson has contributed six assists.

David Artell’s Grimsby Town will be disappointed with their last three results that have seen them slip away from the playoff places, taking only one point from a possible nine. That point came last time out thanks to a 1-1 draw at home to Chesterfield with on loan Jordan Davies getting on the scoresheet. Before that point, 2025 had started with two defeats on the road at Accrington Stanley and Bradford City. The Mariners last win came in their final match of 2024 with an impressive victory over promotion chasing Port Vale at Blundell Park. Cameron McJannett opened the scoring just before the half hour mark before two late goals from Douglas Tharme and Jason Dadi Svanthorsson sealed a brilliant 3-0 win.

The Mariners have gained 38 points from their 26 games this term and sit 9th in League Two, just four points behind Salford City in the final playoff spot although they have played a game more. Matches involving Grimsby have been full of goals this season, with Town scoring 1.4 per game but conceding 1.6. Top scorer Danny Rose has found the net six times this season and the impressive Denver Hume will be looking for his tenth assist this weekend.

Grimsby Town firmly hold the upper hand in the head to head between these two sides recently, winning eight of the last 15 matches. The Mariners, however, have failed to beat their opponents in the last two matches against them.

Earlier this season, Barrow left Cleethorpes with all three points thanks to goals from Sam Foley and Theo Vassell. The Bluebirds held on for all three points despite Kieran Green pulling one back for the hosts on the stroke of half time.

Last season saw both sides claim a victory apiece, each winning their respective home matches. In October, Barrow made the trip to North East Lincolnshire for a Tuesday night fixture with a hardy band of 50 supporters cheering them on. The travelling Bluebirds were given something to cheer after 18 minutes when Abo Eisa had his penalty saved by Paul Farman but were silenced just before half time by Danny Rose who shot high into the net to give the Mariners the lead. Donovan Wilson doubled the lead after 75 minute before Sam Foley pulled one back with ten minutes to play. The return fixture saw a Cole Stockton inspired Barrow race into a two goal lead after just 22 minutes. It was the on loan Burton Albion striker Stockton who scored twice to give the home side a comfortable lead. The result was put beyond doubt when Robbie Gotts made it three with ten minutes to go. Justin Obikwu’s late consolation for Grimsby did nothing to trouble the result.
