Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Hull City are in desperate need of a win against Sheffield United in their battle for survival in the Championship, sitting 21st in the division and outside of the drop zone on goal difference only. Tuesday’s defeat to Queens Park Rangers left the Tigers looking over their shoulder at a Portsmouth side who have two games in hand in the race to stay up. Ruben Selles has been in charge for 10 matches and has won three and lost five of those. The 2-1 defeat to QPR is the second suffered in the last five league matches, a run that has seen two victories and an impressive draw against Leeds United, giving the Tigers hope of avoiding the drop.

The Tigers have scored less than a goal per game this season and have conceded 38 in 28 league matches. Top scorer Joao Pedro will be looking to add to his five goals this campaign and Abu Kamara will looking for his fourth assist of the season. Hull have managed to keep only three clean sheets so far and have conceded the joint second most penalties in the league with four.

Sheffield United have now won four Championship matches in a row after Tuesday’s 2-1 victory in Wales against Swansea City. The Blades came from behind against the ten man Swans thanks to goals from Rhian Brewster and Harrison Burrows. Chris Wilder’s side moved back into top spot and hold a two point lead over their nearest rivals Leeds United but have played a game more.

The Blades have the second best defence in the league having allowed just 18 goal against them in 28 games and have 16 shut outs to their name so far. Gustavo Hamer is enjoying an excellent season and tops to goals and assists charts with six goals and five assists. Summer signing Harrison Burrows is in superb form at present having scored three times in his last two outings.

Sheffield United are unbeaten in 90 minutes against Hull City in their last eight matches, winning six of those and drawing the other two – albeit one of those ended in a penalty shootout defeat. Earlier this season, the Blades left the MKM Stadium with all three points thanks to goals from Gustavo Hamer and Sam McCallum. Hamer opened the scoring after just 15 minutes before McCallum secured all three points with 25 minutes left to play.

The Blades completed the double over the Tigers during the 2022/23 season, again winning 2-0 in Hull in September thanks to goals from Oli McBurnie and Sander Berge before completing a 1-0 victory against a Hull side who ended the game with ten men following Benjamin Tetteh’s dismissal. Current Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison scored inside five minutes to seal the points as the Blades were on their way to promotion.

Hull City’s last two victories against United came in 2018 thanks to a solitary Nouha Dicko strike at the KCOM Stadium and a penalty shootout win at Bramall Lane after the EFL Cup match ended 1-1, with Billy Sharp pulling the Blades level with 15 minutes left after Jon Toral had given Hull the lead.
