Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has issued an apology regarding language he used at half time during his side’s 2-2 draw against Cambridge United at the weekend.
The 43-year-old has found himself under increasing pressure from supporters over the past few weeks. After losing in the League One play-off final to Oxford United last season, the minimum expectation this time around was to secure promotion. However, it has been an inconsistent campaign thus far, and the Trotters have picked up just three league wins from their last 10 games.
Evatt hit the headlines last week following defeat at Rotherham United, saying that sacking him won’t change anything as it would still be the same group of players. He once again put himself in the public eye at half time against Cambridge where, with his side trailing 2-1, he was heard to be swearing.
“Changing me isn’t going to help.”

Evatt Sorry For Any Offense Caused
Evatt’s tirade went viral on social media last night, prompting the former Barrow boss to issue an apology. Speaking to The Bolton News, he said:
“First of all, I do apologise if any offence was taken. I was walking back down the tunnel, I didn’t stop to look at any one person or target anybody in particular, I was just so annoyed with what had happened in the first half, the football, and it all came out.
“It was pure frustration at what I’d seen on the pitch. I didn’t mean it to come across as aggressive towards anybody, especially the fans. It was me letting my emotions out and it wasn’t personal at all.”

Ian Evatt continues to hit the headlines but for all the wrong reasons. He is under immense pressure from Bolton supporters and it appears as if it is beginning to show. Charlton Athletic visit the Toughsheet Community Stadium tonight in a game which must be considered a must win for the former Blackpool defender. Anything less than three points will see the pressure ramp up another couple of degrees, and we all know how that usually ends up.
