Our Three Predictions For Millwall vs Cardiff City:

  • First Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Match Result – Cardiff City – 27/10
  • Second Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Under 2.5 Goals – 12/25
  • Third Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Both Teams To Score – No – 69/100

First Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Match Result – Cardiff City – 27/10

Cardiff’s weekend win over their fierce rivals Swansea City sets them up perfectly to try and replicate that result this evening. That was their second win in 2025, following the Sheffield United cup win, and Omer Riza now has the Bluebirds unbeaten in six games across all competitions. That run has taken them outside the bottom three, but still well in a relegation scrap thanks to other positive results for sides around. That spells bad news for Millwall, whose campaign had deteriorated dramatically and they face three of the Championship’s bottom five in their next three outings. The Lions are winless in five league games, picking up just eight points from the last thirty-six available. This contest looks like going in one direction, and that’s in favour of a rare win for the visitors.

Second Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Under 2.5 Goals – 12/25

Goals feel very unlikely in this encounter. Millwall are the lowest scorers in the second tier with 24, while conceding the same amount at the other end means their games have the second-fewest goals in the division. Five of their six December games had no more than a single goal, and their two league defeats in January have both been 1-0. Cardiff have only netted five more times this campaign, and had seen a maximum of two goals in a game in all four of their games this month until Saturday’s derby win. December though saw at least the Bluebirds or their opponents score at least twice in each game, but that appears to be a less likely occurrence in midweek. Expect another low-scoring encounter on Tuesday.

Third Prediction For Millwall vs Cardiff City: Both Teams To Score – No – 69/100

As mentioned above, Millwall are the divisions lowest scorers. With only fourteen goals in as many games at The Den, they also have the the worst home record in the division in the scoring department. But their defensive record on their own patch is stronger, conceding eleven times. Cardiff meanwhile have managed similar numbers on their travels, finding the back of the net on thirteen occasions. That though is much better in terms of the league average, placing them in mid-table. With just the one away victory all term in the league, but with that FA Cup win still fresh in their mind, a one goal away victory feels the most likely outcome from this game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Cardiff make the journey between the two British capitals massively boosted by a hugely encouraging derby victory on Saturday. The Bluebirds ran out 3-0 winners in the South Wales Derby thanks to two quick-fire goals from Callum Robinson at the start of the first half. Dimitrios Goutas added a third for the hosts, who won the latest encounter between the two Welsh sides with their highest winning margin in over three decades.

That gave Omer Riza his first Championship win of 2025, following three consecutive draws. They are now on a six-game unbeaten streak, starting with a victory over Watford at the end of last year and includes an FA Cup 3rd Round victory over Sheffield United. Cardiff remain just outside the relegation zone ahead of the midweek fixtures, sitting 20th with a one-point buffer to Portsmouth two places below.

Pompey are a side that Millwall will now have their eyes on avoiding, following a struggling start to the calendar year has seen them fall to 17th spot in the standings. Once a side with aspirations of the top six, the Lions are now eleven points adrift of that target and are now only four points clear of the bottom four following their latest loss to Hull City. A league win has deserted Alex Neil to date; their last three-point haul came against Blackburn in mid-December.

Narrow defeats to Norwich and Oxford over the festive period were separated by draws against Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday. Neil though did register his first victory as Lions boss in the FA Cup, avoiding an upset as they safely progressed against Dagenham & Redbridge. But their weekend loss to the Tigers snapped them back into reality, ahead of another game against a side trying to pull themselves away from the bottom three.

Over the course of history, these two have a very similar head-to-head record. Millwall edge it with 25 wins to Cardiff’s 23, while a draw has been the most frequent outcome on 29 occasions. The Lions have the greater recent record too, winning four of the last six Championship meetings between the sides. But Cardiff won in the league for the first time this campaign in the reverse encounter, Perry Ng ending the Bluebirds’ seven-game winless run. Given the form of the sides going into this encounter, they have to be considered the favourites to replicate that result on Tuesday evening.
