Boston United Secure League One Midfielder On Loan

Lincoln City’s Oisin Gallagher has been recalled from his loan at Peterborough Sports and sent to National League side Boston United for the remainder of the season.

The Republic of Ireland U19 international has already impressed during his tenure at Peterborough Sports, where he made 24 appearances this season, scoring once, and added to his tally of 13 matches from the previous campaign. Gallagher’s versatility in playing central defence or midfield has been a key attribute, earning him four first-team outings for the Imps in this season’s Vertu Trophy.

A New Challenge for Gallagher

The move to Boston United marks a new chapter for Gallagher, one that could prove pivotal in his burgeoning career. Director of football Jez George described the transition as a crucial next step, highlighting the increased level of competition awaiting Gallagher in the National League.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Oisin; the next step at a level higher for him in his young career. He has performed really well for us at centre back in the Vertu Trophy and he is ready for this next challenge.

“With Boston’s set-up, it also allows Oisin to continue training with us once a week, so that we can continue to impact his physical development.”

Boston United’s collaboration with Lincoln City includes provisions for Gallagher to train with his parent club weekly, ensuring his ongoing development remains on track. Meanwhile, working under Boston’s seasoned manager Graham Coughlan offers Gallagher a chance to gain invaluable experience as he continues his ascent in professional football.

Gallagher’s Journey So Far

Since signing his first professional contract with Lincoln City in December 2021, Gallagher has steadily climbed the ranks. He made his senior debut in an EFL Trophy match against Barnsley in August 2022 and signed a long-term contract extension in February 2023. His league debut followed on New Year’s Day 2024 against Blackpool.

Loan spells have been a feature of Gallagher’s development. Gallagher gained experience across various levels of competition from Barwell in February 2023 to Peterborough Sports later that year, and a brief stint with Drogheda United in early 2023. His return to Peterborough Sports in August 2024 set the stage for his standout performances this season.
