AFC Wimbledon have had and indifferent spell recently but find themselves in a strong position in the standings. A push for promotion could still be on the cards for their visitors Gillingham, and a win at Plough Lane will give them huge confidence.
Our Three Predictions For AFC Wimbledon v Gillingham
- Prediction 1 – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 69/100
- Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 99/100
- Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 1/1
First Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Gillingham – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 69/100
Home is where the heart is and Wimbledon had one of the best records in the whole of English football before their pitch was wrecked by a freak flood. They do now seem to be getting back to how they were at the start of the season, and despite a couple of setbacks with draws against Newport County and Swindon Town, they had a statement win against Doncaster Rovers in between those results. A win here will put them right in the thick of the promotion race and Plough Lane could well become their safe place in 2025. Gillingham have not have the best of runs away from home but they did manage to upset Milton Keynes, to keep their noses in the playoff hunt. They will need to find some goalscoring form though as they have only managed two goals in their last three trips on the road.
Second Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Gillingham – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 99/100
Wimbledon have scored 32 goals in their campaign so far, and that tally has been helped along with 21 at Plough Lane. They don’t give too much away on home soil with only nine conceded, but they do have but when they do have lapses they tend to give away a couple. They have only managed one clean sheet at home in their last six, so that will give hope to a Gills side that have struggled to find the net on multiple occasions in games away, but do keep the scoreboard ticking over by averaging a goal a game overall, but only six scored from their 10 away days.
Third Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Gillingham – Match To End In A Draw – 12/5
This could be the best way for Gillingham to get anything from the game against a very resolute Dons side. Having said that they have only drawn twice away, so they are either a do or die team on the road. Their last away draw was at the back end of October when they managed a 1-1 stalemate at Swindon Town. Wimbledon have only lost twice at home, and drawn three times, twice in the last two games. They have an uncanny knack of making games more difficult than they should be, and this ends up with battling performances to salvage something. A draw here wouldn’t be bad for both sides but not great for their promotion ambitions.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
With MatTy Stevens up front the Dons always have a chance at grabbing a goal, and his has been ably supported by Omar Bugiel – who could be missing through injury – and James Tilley. Between the three of them they have score 17 goals in League Two, Stevens bagging 11. Manager Johnnie Jackson knows a win here will put his side in a fairly unique position, their destiny in their own hands in terms of promotion. They have been on the fringes of the playoff places most of the season, but after a sequence of results both for his team and around the division, they could well be in the box seat come January, and then it will be how they all react to this new pressure that could see the difference.
For Mark Bonner it is very much a case of hang in there and see what happens. Gillingham would have fancied their chances of a strong season, but as of yet they have failed to find real consistency and this has seen them drop away from the front runners, but still very much in touch should they put a run together. Jayden Clarke top scores so far for the Kent side with seven goals, and Elliott Nevitt will be one to watch leading the line, but with only one goal so far he will need to do better. German defender Max Ehmer has been the first on the team sheet when available, and will need to be sharp and use all his experience to marshal his back line against a very attacking Dons side.
