1st Prediction For Portsmouth v Coventry City: Match Result – Draw – 11/4

Coventry City head to Fratton Park on the back of a win against bottom side Hull City and have collected seven points from the last 12 available. Hosts Pompey have picked up seven points from their last three home matches. Mousinho’s side have only won twice at home this season while Lampard’s Sky Blues have two away wins to their name. Current form suggests it will be tough to separate these sides.

Mason Ephron-Clark has scored three and assisted one in his last four games as he looks to establish himself after his move from Peterborough United. Against a Pompey defence who have already conceded 34 goals this term, the winger will be keen to add to his current form in front of goal.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Portsmouth welcome Coventry City to Fratton Park looking to climb out of the Championship’s relegation zone. Josh Mousinho’s men find themselves  in 22nd position, one point behind Cardiff City with a game in hand.

Pompey have lost just once in their last five league outings, an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Derby County last Friday. That run has included a draw away at Swansea City, a point at home to Norwich City and home victories against Preston North End and Bristol City. Portsmouth have only won twice at home this season but have played out four draws and lost on three occasions. In their nine matches at Fratton Park, Mousinho’s team have scored nine times and conceded 10.

Coventry City head south for a fifth game under new manager Frank Lampard. The former Chelsea boss has made a decent start to life with the Sky Blues, winning twice and drawing once in his opening four matches. Coventry’s away record would see them sit 12th in the Championship, winning twice and drawing four times in 11 games. In those 11 games, City have only scored nine goals and have shipped 14.

The last ten meetings between these sides have resulted in each side winning on four occasions with two draws being played out. The last encounter came close to five years ago at Birmingham City’s St. Andrew’s Stadium, with Coventry City running out victors on ‘home’ soil. The Sky Blues won the game thanks to a Matt Godden goal with six minutes remaining, continuing his side’s charge towards promotion at the end of that Covid interrupted campaign. When the two teams met earlier that season they served up a cracker as nine man Coventry came back from two goals down to rescue a 3-3 draw. The visiting Sky Blues had raced into the lead with just three minutes on the clock before goals from Ronan Curtis, John Marquis and Gareth Evans gave Pompey a 3-1 lead. Almost immediately after conceding the third, City were down to ten when Fankaty Dabo was second off for a second yellow card. Matt Godden pulled one back from the spot with quarter of an hour remaining only for Gervane Kastaneer to see red and the game appear to be over. Four minutes from time, a Michael Rose penalty sent Coventry home with an unlikely point.
